Brianna has a leather wrap kit for sale with an instructional DVD. Has anyone bought this product, and if so, how did it work out for you. Is installing a leather wrap very difficult? I would prefer to do it myself as a learn

Lee's video is good. It shows you a way to do it with and without a jig. Even with a jig, it is not a walk in the park. You still have to be skilled and patient.

You have to ask yourself, how many wraps do I plan on doing? If you forsee yourself doing a good number, the jig is for you. If not, don't waste your time. I don't use a jig and mine come out fine. Think about this... before there were jigs, how were people doing it?

What you do need is good instruction and a template. The template makes all the difference. I recommend Lee's products. They are good, but if you don't mind spending the money, go with unique. You can't get much better.

I've got a Unique myself. Lee's has the template, I believe, for cutting the concave and convex ends of the leather for a good fit but the Unique holds the cue and makes it very easy to cut the seam perfectly. It cuts both sides of the wrap straight and the correct distance apart so that when the edges are glued down they abut each other so that you must really look to find a seam. It will last a lifetime and pays for itself after the first 4 or 5 wraps. After a little use so that you get confident in your technique it shouldn't take much longer than a 1/2 hour to do a wrap perfectly. As has been said, leather wraps were done for years without the jigs but few did good jobs. With the jigs now available, anybody who has the ability to chew gum and watch a DVD can do them perfectly. After doing my first 5 or 6 wraps with the jig I went out and bought about a 1000.00 worth of embossed leather and exotic wraps to have on hand.
