Leather wraps, is everyone going nuts!

Yes, that is correct. I have put on some very nice cues and it worked incredibly well. I have put it on Ginas, Schicks and other high end cues. And will continue to do so. I have a bottle in my tool closet right now. One thing I didn't mention before is to be sure and tape off above and below the wrap.

Is this where I mention that I am still honoring the leather special for AZBers?

AZBers can get a new leather wrap installed on your cue for $89 including return shipping. Many colors and patterns to choose from.

PM or email me at info@oklahomabilliards.com to order.

Leather is the nuts, imo. And that ain't just cuz I sell it, neither. :D

Sorry ... I couldn't help myself.

I prefer leather as well, but prefer something with "texture" like lizard print leather. I'm not a big fan of real lizard but its' ok.

You need to explore the reasons for the huge run on leather, number one is the ease it takes to put it on. Right now leather wraps are as easy as doing a linen wrap with the advent of the new Leather jigs being sold. I just saw one in the Auction thread for Hightower. Not only are they easy but they command a higher price and the reason for that is due to the cues of the past, any older cues (Bushka,Boti,Palmer) are worth more with original leather. Now the reason for that is that they were rare back then, so in the end it shouldn't reflect in the price in the future, maybe we'll find it quite the opposite?? Who knows. I also know many cuemakers who feel high end cues just look cleaner with a nice leather on them.
I'm a fan of cork.

Personally can't stand the lizards, think they make cue's look like something a 2000 kid would use trying to look like a 70's television pimp.

Stack leather looks nice, not a big fan of how it feels. Like linen. Green and white is my favorite, but I like most colors other than straight double black. If I was going to do double black linen I'd probably just get black leather and I don't like leather.

agreed on the lizardskin.. it just looks uncessesary on a poolcue. i prefer linen over leather, but i prefer no wrap over wraps. my last two cues had wraps, and now im back with a no wrap cue, and i have to say i feel a lot more comfortable when im shooting.

I like leather. Easy to clean, and doesn't hold moisture the way linen does. Ever pick up a linen wrap on a humid day? Gross, imo...

I also think that the sheen on some leathers match better with a cue's luster...especially solid color wraps with ebony cues. The glossy black of an ebony forearm just goes better with a slightly glossy black of a boarskin wrap, imo. Definitely no solid color linen wraps for me.

Lizards...I love how they look, but they wear funny and I do have a problem with killing an apex predator to adorn your cue. And for those of you who are thinking about chiming in to inform me that cows are sentient animals too, A.) leather is a by-product of the cattle industry, and B.) they're cows...they're domesticated...they munch grass 24/7...they do not contribute to any wild ecosystem.

I think each to its own, it is a very subjective matter of what feels good in one's hand.
I personally like leather but I am not a big fan of python.
I like the white linen with black or brown speck that can be found on a lot of Tad's. I think that is a classic.
Some cue makers, such as Ernie and Ed Prewitt, is capable of unreal perfect execution on leather wraps and it is really enjoyable just to look at their leather wrap work. Some leather wrap has made me go, "wow!"
With linen, it is really hard to look at it and say, "wow!"
Just my opinion,
Richard

Yes i am a fan of cork too,who does them at the Expo in Valley Forge?

Lenny and JimBo, there is a cuemaker about 20 miles from me who has been making cues for about 30 years who does amazing cork wraps. I have seen one where I could not find the seem, and it took him a few minutes to find it as well. I love it on a cue, but I don't think it looks really good on many.

A funny animal

because I like nowraps, linen, and leather, never tried cork. I would be picky about the leather and the linen.

Black/with white spec is a cop-out most of the time because the cuemaker does take the time to make the cue more striking with other colors. As I have stated before, some cuemakers could benefit from a color coordination or decorating class. I have seen many many cues that had b/w linen when a good brown tone of linen would have looked much better. (or even a dark gold color).

I prefer double pressed black linen to speckled wraps most of the time. Hey, some guys like twead jackets, some don't .... lol

Light linens just get too dirty too fast.(especially the way some people sweat or get clammy hands - ugh ew!!! hate - hate to shake hands with a cold clammy dead fish hand) It's like washing your car and not doing the chrome or your wheels. So, unless you are prepared to put in additional bucks to get rewrapped more often, I would opt for a darker wrap. (and if you notice, darker color cars look better than lighter colored cars when they are 6-7 years old too - sorry, I grew up in a Bodyshop ... lol).

Shooting with a cue with an ugly wrap would bother me as much as if the wrap really didn't feel right in my hands.
