going to be in atlanta for a couple days for a business conference, staying out near the airport. Just wondering where are some good places to play, maybe some lite gambling, no rough spots cuz i wont have my pistol lol.

The airport is on the south side of town...the best rooms are to the north...The Pool Room in either Marietta or Duluth...or Mr Cues on Chamblee-Tucker Road are the best that I know of.

Well of your large pool halls Cues 2 is going to be your closest. It's right there at I-285 and I-85 on the Northside. However beware for gambling. That place has some big dogs in it. Johnny Archer, Cliff Joyner, Stevie Moore, Monica Webb, Helena Thornfeldt, and others can be spotted there often. But if your a excellent player looking for some gambling that is the place to go.

The Pool Rooms are also great places. The Pool Room in Duluth is smoke free. The one in Marietta is not. But they have some kick ass food and a fully stocked bar. And all brand new Gold Crown 4s with Simonis.

The Pool Room and Cues 2 have websites. Go Here for some links to it. It will be under "Georgia Pool Halls with Websites".

By the way. Any Pool hall around the Airport is not going to be a good pool hall. Bring your knife and pecos.

There is a decent place to play in Decatur, which is not far from the airport, on the SE side of Atlanta. Can't remember the name (it's in the phone book, under 'billiard rooms'...look for Decatur address), but it is a bar with several 9' tables. I've done some lessons in there, and it's not a bad place to play. Tables are okay, but not comparable to the other rooms mentioned. However, it is a LOT closer to where you'll be (unless you have a car and want to drive to the north side).

Scott Lee might be referring to "The Independent". It's off Monroe Drive and Ponce De Leon. Near Peidmont Park. They have 10 9' Gandy's furniture styles. 9 are done in regular cloth and one in Brunswick Centenial. I know of some Decent Players there. The best probably average about a 6-7 in APA. But you'll get some pros from Cues2 coming in there here and there. They do have league there.

It is also in Mid-town and so there is money to be made there.

I've never been to Twain's, but Decatur has the advantage that it's a train ride from the airport - getting to Marietta by public transport is wretched. Maybe you can talk a friend into driving up to the Pool Room in Marietta.

Hey - I just tied BABE RUTH!!!!

That's sad that people from all around the country know my town better than I do. But I don't venture into downtown Decatur much. Thankfully Decatur is a nice area again. All the yuppies bought the town out and made it pretty.

Best of luck to you in your gaming.
