legal one pocket break?

All you have to do is hit a ball and hit a rail afterwards...of course it's a legal break
 
That break was used sometimes back in the day, but there was a reason why most people who used it stopped.......I can't remember why? I'll ask a friend of mine who knows.

btw, Keith McCready used this break to his advantage on a 1P video I have somewhere.

I have used it a few times, but I hit it with draw and tried to get the cue ball to stick to the side of the rack. I never gave it enough of a go to get good at it.

actually top spin works better in keeping the cue ball close to the rack after it hits bottom causes the cue ball to hit somewhere else.
 
I think George Fels mentioned it in his book "Mastering Pool".

Something about "favored for no apparent reason by black players".
 
I dont know if beav if talking about me or not but thats the only break i use, and in my opion the best to use. except you might want to reevauluate where you make contact with the rack and where the cue ball is intended to go if you let the cue ball drift as far as indicated in the pic youll prolly leave a ball for the wrong pocket. you should hit it with high english and between the 2-3rd ball and just hard enough to stick the cue ball there. if done effectivley (practice) the cue ball will be snookered in the balls and you will have about 2-4 balls away from the pack near your pocket. also make sure you check the rack a solid rack for this breakis very important. Just FYI.:thumbup:

PS this is a tough break and can cost you a ball if taken lightly.

Beav who else uses this break in col??? as far as i knew the was the the only one??

It's legal, but I'd never use it - too hard to control the CB's path after contacting the stack. I think this one is more reliable:

This angle of attack makes the CB stick to the side of the stack with practice, and especially on a familiar table. It also virtually eliminates the corner ball breaking toward your opponent's pocket. Remember to call your pocket.

i tried to make that same diagram but instead posted the same thing as before..... but thats exactly where i break from and hit the ball! great diagram :thumbup:and thanks for doing what i could not:sorry:
