Length of Pool Cue

The standard players cue is 58 inches (29 X 29). With the help of Scott Lee I have changed my bridge so my elbow is at 90 degrees. This moved my playing hand to the back of the grip since I have a 12 inch bridge. Now that my hand is farther back I have considered purchasing a custom cue with a longer butt (perhaps even longer shaft) to have more reach across the table and still be able to keep the 90 deg bend. My concern is an increase in deflection and change in balance of a cue. Any insight would be wonderful. Thanks.

im tall with long arms and i went this route initially......30 in butt/ 30 in shaft. All my cues and shafts are the same so i can mess around with the combos......i can go from a 58" to a 61" setup if i want. After doing all that ive found i still seem to shoot best with a standard 58" cue, it just feels right. I only use probably a 8" bridge though so that makes a difference.

I should play with a 61" given my natural stance. But I compromise with a 59". The longer they get, the worse they play.

Gus Szamboti made the best playing 60"+ cues. But they are too expensive to haul to different rooms IMO.

I've been playing with 60" cues for a while now and think my cues play just fine.
