Length of the cue?!

Hi all

I don't know wheter this subject has been discussed earlier or not, but anyhow...

I started to wonder why all players play with the same cue lenght regardless of their own height etc. Basically the short 5.2 little guy and 6.4 tall dude play with the same length cue!!! For. eg. the reg. cue is 58 inches.. thats 92 % of the 5.2 guys height... but only 75.5 % of the 6.4 guys height...

So what I'm trying to say is: is it possible for both of these players to achieve the same kind of cueing action?

I'm myself 6.3 and I started playing with an extension all the time so now my cue is about 63.5 inches. My cueing action got a lot better and I hit much straighter. (A little trouble fitting the cue between the table and the wall sometimes :) ...)

Does anyone else have similar thoughts and experiments with lenghtier cues? Or ofcourse disputes?

I am 6' and play with a 60" cue. The whole reason I started making cues was because I thought I need a longer cue. Started with 61". Settled on 60. Lots of threads have been started. The search function could give you lots of other opinions.

I agree with you longer wing span longer cue most people have to grip cue at the very end of their cue.I make my cues at or about 60"

cue

Many of the best cue makers of all time built cues at 57.5" - 58" max. Some refuse to even make a cue longer than 57.5. There is a reason for it. I am 6.1" and after playing for years with cues at 58 to 59" I am now playing with a Gina that is 57.5 and playing my best ever. The balance is just perfect and I miss less shots with it. But to each his own. I think it is easy to get spoiled with a longer cue for reaching long type shots, but I also thing it takes something away.
