Anyone heard of Leroy Price cues ? My friend has one, quite basic plain janish with some inlays. It was brought to Finland by Mika in 1996 I think. My friend would appreciate any info on this cuemaker.

Leroy Price was a cue maker from the San Diego area. For a few years he had a shop at 53rd and El Cajon, directly across the street from College Billiards. This was a retail store as well -call Bllards Depot (I believe). He closed a few years ago and I heard he was real sick (passed on??)

I think he was from Ramona, Calif and was a retired machinist. One of the local San Diego people would know a lot more than me. I met him a few times, and found him to be a pretty decent guy. He donated a nice stick to one of the first Jay Swanson memorial tournaments that was held at College Billiards.

Hope this helps,

Thanks Mark ! Do you or someone else have any idea when he started making cues ? His annual production amount ? Prices of cues, are they sought after or just one of those local cuemakers with local players using his cues ?

I kind of guessed that he is not making cues anymore, Google didn't find anything on him so he must've have stopped making cues before the golden era of Google. :)

I met Leroy back in '95 at the Legends of 9-Ball tourney at the Commerce Casino in LA.
Back then he was sponsoring Leonardo Andam. Andam had a plain b'eye with ivory joint and checks Price cue. Leroy had a booth there and the now closed Best Billiards bought all of his cues.
I have not heard from him in years. He used to advertise on On the Wire here.
