Less expensive Joss cues and quality?

Since my 2 year old Cuetec Avid has a crack, and it seems fairly common, it has left a bad taste in my mouth for ever buying a Cuetec again.

lots of daily use 7 days a week, no issues with quality other than my own play

The white collar. It's pretty thin compared to other cues I've been looking at. I know it doesn't hurt play, especially my play, but I like to keep my cues in excellent shape. Someone mentioned the dirt on the collar and I'm starting to think that the dirt in there with me tightening the shaft did it. I've seen other same model online do the same.
