I don't think I have any good photos (of gas powered rooms) that I can share, but here's a rare illustration of Brunswick's large room in Chicago...all gas...1860's

That's fascinating. Thank you so much. I can imagine the tall ceiling and the papered walls with the molding, and gas lit billiards.

I've came across one that used both gas and electricity, I had heard of them in years prior,I was told if I find one to try to buy it because it belongs in a museum.
I tryied to offer to purchase the lamp but the owner knew darn well what he had and said his great grandpa -a clock maker- had given it to him.
back when electrically was wired to the homes in earlier times the power grid was very unstable and was known to go off" black out " at any time for short moments or even days. So the table light was offered in both gas and electric but if you had the money to buy the light with both sources as a option it would be a great payoff no matter the location.

Some things like this make me wish we lived in more elegant times. The place with the best tables in our area has torn carpet, and only 4-5 good tables, two of which need new cloth badly. On league nights they have a rave or something, which is nice for brining in half naked ladies but also brings in half naked guys and thumping music 
and I've heard rumors that a few times there were gunshots there. At least it has electric lights! LOL
