Let's ALL create the best table possible

Well we finally agree, wait until you see my present for you............ One of the greatest mech tools ever made. So much more to come, its fun but now I have to go to bed. Want to be fresh for the morning job of the new OTLB ext's, tack strips, and seamless slates. All with pics. Dam I have to be up by 8am CHeers

These guys cared, Oh yeah, if it will make you happy, I will glady copy their idea. If Diamond had seen it, they would have to.

My apology for not being totally coherent last night.. Now lets try again, are you saying because you had a 7 bolt rail system it was no good because no one copied it?????

As I stated earlier this table has many great features. When a person takes a min to look for example you will see that their ideas were copied. Both Brunswick(my favorite but I don't mention them alot))and Diamond both have slate leveling systems don't they. Like you, no offense, they never saw this table. JAFCO as shown in the pic had the first level pocket. Brunswick copied this in the GC IV, as they recessed it the same way JAFCO did. Diamond Pro boasts quiet ball return system, leveling, bi level pocket design, Lets see yeap JAFCO gotem beat here. Brunswick copies JAFCO as with Diamond by taking the counters off the tops of the rails, JAFCO better they put them on the side.

Like I said, its not the best IMO but way ahead of its time and still years ahead of everything. AS you say their name lives on and they have passed. The table I on am working on now has these features and so many more. AHHHHHHHHHHHHH its not being built in myhead, its not being built on the moon, just in my garage where the windows are covered from prying eyes, only joking.

To me seeing this table through both a players eyes and tech side really tells me that these guys thought about it. Sorry you never worked on one, I am sure you can. Only thing is, you see this table doesn't have ANY rail bolts. My points made I think but I can continue bantering( more hits for the thread Glen).

Can't you let go for a second and just appreciate the fact that there were other guys like us who wanted to build a better mouse trap?? and in this case a rat trap.

I posted the pics so guys could voice opinions, thank you for yours. This table is not about me, just look at it. OH yeah Glen, Diamond copied this table to, but you don't know why????? So I will answer. Yeah I had to use glue, it doesn't have framed slate.

So your point is very valid, thank you John

Gotta run, when I return from my little road trip I will update my OTLB rail ext thread with pics.

Please everyone who reads this, forgive some of Glen and my side dialogue.

One more thing, why is it Glen I am the only tech that you care to challenge in here??????????????? First I had to post pics of things that I do( still have more than what I have already showed) to prove myself. Then be made fun of. Like I continue to say, I am not the best but keep getting better every day. I look at what others do, have done, what other trades lend in similarity, etc. all to help me get better.

Just because I like you I am going to convert my GCV snooker back to pool or should I say Billiards>>>>>>>>>> Boy how am I going to do that??? What sucks is, I don't know how right now. I said it because now I have to do it. This project will begin in two weeks after the expo. ( another thread perhaps when its done ) I challenge myself and as I have said before am taking your inspirational thoughts with me for the ride.

Glen are you going to the EXPO??? think they would let me put my levels on those tables if I ask nice? Could I be a Diamond rep for NE?? Can I fit one of those 7fts in my Caravan?

WOW OMG just came out of my R+D department and have a way(not idea) to make a carom table on My GC V or any other GC. This is cool, Billiards, pool, snooker, I may even add a couple bumpers in the middle. Just think about the fact that OTLB ispromoting work for everyone. As mech's can go out and convert tables and make money in poolrooms if they want etc. Time to leave have to be on time. Have a nice day

John...Diamonds have never had counters in their rails, so they never copied, or took them off;)

Exactly, your statement was that anything really good would be copied. JAFCO never had anything on the tops of the rails and were made long before Diamond. They came up with this before Diamond.

So it doesn't have rail bolts, how are the rails attached?

Good night John, not playing these little guessing games of yours just to bump up your threads:D

This weekend I was in Maine setting up this custom modified GC. He built this base for it. It was sick. I always sit on a table to see how much deflection it has in the corners etc and my levels did NOT move. Just thought I would share it, I gave him the dimensions he needed and he came up with the design. Pretty damn good IMO

Where's the slate leveling system?;) A bit of an over kill, but looks good, I'd hate to be taking this table apart for a table move:D

The frame was awesome and used only a few flat stock shims. As with many great antique tables when the frame is made well you don't need levelors. Surprised you would think this hard to move, put the two tubs sideways on the hand cart, move frame? I think that's easier than a one piece slate table. And yes it's overkill. The frame went the entire lenght of the slate and width. I promise you that you will never have to move it

yesterday I was called to setup a billiard table, was hoping to use my tac strips but rail design didn't permit it(too bad). These rails were the most comfortable I have ever played on and were solid wood not hollow. End rail weighed about 50 lbs. with 5 rail bolts. Slates were perfect and only had to fill a couple small chips in spots, the rest, nothing in the the seams perfect!

Very cool modern looking table, steel frame, adjustable legs and perfect tight fitting rails. Cost of the table was $14,000.(way too much but the guy had it)
