Let's hear about the ACS Leagues

I have seen posts here on the BCA, APA, TAP, VNEA but don't recall seeing nothing on the ACS "americancuesports" league. We are curently playing a small ACS league here now in it's 2nd session and will be attending the nationals in June. Has anybody got anything good or bad to say about it. ALL opinions are appreciated.

ACS is basically a copy of BCAPL. When the BCA sold the league to Mark Griffin, some of the older BCA league operators didn't like it...so they broke off and formed their own "league", with their own championship in Vegas, etc. Bottomline is that all league play is good for pool...and many players play both BCAPL and ACS, at the same time.

Nothing Good To Say...So actually I Should

I am very biased towards the BCAPL for a few simple reasons.

They are a class act run by professional people with the betterment of pool always up front.

My experience with the ACS (Our league is a dual sanction league, BCAPL and ACS) is exactly the opposite. Scott was right in one of his comments, the folks at the old BCA got their underwaer in a knot because the league was sold to Mark. They ranted for over a year after the sale how Mark Griffin was going to ruin the league, how it went from Non-profit to a for profit league, the BCA did this to us and they did that and on and on and on. Sounded like a bunch of children that got told to leave the sandbox. My view of non-profit orgs are; lots of people that want a title but don't do anything so in the long run they argue about everything and nothing meaningful gets accomplished

Here in Texas it's especially bad since the old BCA director is the ACS director. their state tourney was terrible. Poorly run, unorganized...basically bush league.

The National Tournament they have is about as big as our State BCAPL tourney and if you've ever been to the BCAPL Nationals you're in for a big surprise in June. The ACS is probably 10% the size...if that.

The ACS...hmmm? Trying to get Cue Sports included in the Olympics, who cares. At the National BCAPL tourney they have the pros right next door. The ACS tournament they have a Snooker Tournament and 3 cushion exhibition, once again who cares.

I truely wish the ACS would blow away and all those players still holding a grudge....come back to the BCAPL

Just so you know, there is a 9 Ball Pro Tournament is being held with the ACS Nationals this year. The World Summit Of Pool 9 Ball. don't know if that is the same tourney as was running with the BCAPL before.

Facts Please

Just to straighten some things out.

The BCAPL tournament will have the MatchRoom 'World Pool Masters' and the Predator Invitational 10 Ball Tournament. Just like last year. (The particulars will be coming soon - we only provide the venue and they determine the playing schedule etc.)

The UPA Summit of Pool being held at the ACS tournament was held there a couple of years ago. This event was NEVER at the BCAPL.

For those that are interested in such things, many realize I am a partner in Diamond Tables. Diamond will be providing the tables for the UPA event. I am able to keep my BCAPL and Diamond interests seperate - I want what is good for pool. And feel the players (amateur and pro) should be playing on the best equipment available.
