I have heard about some really great finds lets see what all has been picked-up at your local pawn shops.I know it's getting harder to get that great cue from them because of eBay but I'm sure there has been some great finds!

Sigh...... Unfortunately back in the early to mid 90s. I was selling more cues to pawn shops then I was buying. These days for the most part I never see anything of value.

pawn shop finds...

i have a buddy who has a desk job...and he calls all the local pawn shops in our area about 3 times a week....he pics up some really good deals....just a few of his finds.... richard black one of a kind after six model for 500 bucks...3 or 4 diffrent bloodworths under a 100 bucks on each one...meucci star of david 40 dollars...schurts pj 30 bucks...madison bob sneaky for 20 dollars...and a bunch others that have went in case and out as quick as he bought them....

The problem with great Pawn Shop finds for me is that I sell them to quickly because of the fast profit. I haven't had one in a while but my last find was a Phillippi Ebony Titleist. Bought it for $80 and sold it in 24 hours for much more as you would guess.

Haven't found anything great myself, but...
Was part owner in a bar at one time. had a guy (a known "shyster") come in with a real nice 1st edition Predator w/ 2 shafts - one of which had a collar that was a little different, and I knew why. He said he'd found it in a pawn shop & wanted $200. I paid him on the spot, and went directly to the office to call the owner - from whom it had been stolen. He was happy to pay me my $200 back & walk away with his cue.
He'd had a cuemaker make a 2nd shaft, and it had a little thinner black band on the collar...along with his initials scratched into the collar face next to the pilot...

The pawn shops in my area charge too much for cues. I used to stop by now and then until a guy pulled out a Meucci retail price list and quoted close to retail on a used Meucci cue. I've never seen a descent cue in a pawn shop in Charleston. Mostly fire wood with a high price.

That's been my experience in SoCal as well, but they mostly have insane prices, like $289.00 for a McDermott worth $35.00. I've stpped maybe 20-25 times in last 5 years and have not found a thing.
