Lets start playing Rotation!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There would need to be a way of overcoming the time issue when playing Rotation or 15 Ball in tournaments. You could go to shorter races but a lot of people have a problem with short races. For this reason I think 10 Ball will be with us for a while. It solves the most glaring issues players have with 9 Ball but doesn't add too much to the time a match takes.

I agree, it would take too long. Can you imagine someone like Charlie Williams playing against Fabio Petroni?!! It might never end. I once saw these two take 3 hours to play a race to 9. Also, if the tables aren't breaking well it'll just exacerbate the problem. I enjoy Rotation/Chicago but I think it's best left as a gambling game.

Alternate game

I would offer an alternate to Rotation that could become popular for advanced players, Rotational 8 ball, or Dakota 8 ball as I like to call it.

After the break, the 1 or 9 ball must be shot, and once your group is determined, you must shoot your group in Rotation. After your group is made, you shoot the 8 ball as normal.

If the cue ball is scratched on the break, the opposing player has ball in hand anywhere on the table.

While this game takes more skill to play well, it also maintains a game that people are familiar with in 8 ball. Advanced players, I think, would enjoy the extra challenge, and runouts would not be as often as they are in regular 8 ball.

Give it a try, and see if you like it.

I am going to give it a try. Sounds like a great game.

Rotation is a great game, that can become a defensive marathon very easily. One of my biggest thrills as a kid was in Oceanside, California in 1960. A fella asked me to play a game of rotation for a quarter a point. Although I was primarily a bowler back then, I could play a little pool, too. We flipped for the break, and I broke and ran out to 61 points. My opponent, red-faced, said, "We ain't done till all the balls are made kid!", hoping I wouldn't argue and he'd get a few points back. So I continued to shoot and ran out the rack out. He didn't want to play another game, and I pocketed what amounted to a week's pay for me back then!
