How do you determine one method is more accurate than another? Well, in target shooting, how close, or rather, how far from the center of the target the round hits is the standard.

Apply this same standard to a pool shot, hitting the center of wherever you are putting the OB is the standard.

Using a true center pocket hit shot as a example, the standard for a made shot would be the OB direction of travel goes over the center pocket point and anything else is a miss. This how to meaure the accuracy of a system and not that the OB just goes in the pocket.

What you will find is that the accuracy comes from the player and no where else. Some will argue that th system gives the accuracy, to which my reply is no. Where the accuracy somes from is the accurate application or, better, execution of whatever system is used. And who does the execution.....go look in the mirror. Do you see yourself staring back or a system?
 
This just in.......players are in fact responsible for making or missing shots.

In related news.....the earth is round. :smile:

On a serious note though, was there ever any doubt from anyone that regardless of which "system" used, results vary from person to person and how well they implement said system?

To me, there is only one accuracy that matters, that being which system allows the shooter to put the highest % of balls in the pocket. I also think you're referring to precion more than accuracy. Given the variables involved with pool (clean balls, wear and tear and ball size variability, cloth, humidity, human element), I personally believe accuracy is more important unless you're skilled enough to quickly adapt to the variables involved. That's also why I believe for the vast majority of players, an aiming system will yield more consistent results than feel. For the record, I don't consider ghost ball the be a system. I consider it a method and a rather poor, rudimentary one at that.

To be clear, if it works for you, that's great. I don't care about your game, I care about my own. Having not thoroughly evaluated Pro One, you're frankly not qualified to comment on it one way or the other. I've used GB and I personally believe it to be the weakest of all systems I've tried. That's based upon my own skills and preferences. For others, it may be great. YMMV.
 
Boy am I precise, I keep hitting the same tit on the pocket and the OB doesn't drop.

Boy am I accurate, I keep dropping the OB into the pocket to the left, center and right.:smile:

This is a totally wrong premise.
In pool the object of the game is to make the OB in the pocket. Not to make the OB go over the center point of the pocket.

Ever hear of cheating the pocket?
 
Accuracy in Aiming = being aligned correctly to the target.

Accuracy in Shooting = being able to precisely hit the cue ball.

Accuracy in Pocket Billiards - being able to consistently send the cue ball to a precise location and effect a desired outcome.

System - any method that can be applied consistently which augments accuracy.

Variable - any element in a system which has variance that influences the accuracy of the outcome.

Measurement - a means to track accuracy over time.

Average - the mean degree of accuracy over a set of results.

Cognizance - ability to determine one's own condition and accurately measure one's own performance.

Elation - that good feeling you get when you realize that you are shooting better and winning more because you have put in the time to learn a method that increases your accuracy dramatically. Related closely to FUN.

This thread should be titled "My statement on accuracy" since you are not responding to this thread.

So, you can't function like a normal person on an internet discussion board but think anyone should give a shit about your opinion on aiming systems?

I liked this last paragraph. There's a perceptible difference between students who don't understand an aim system I've taught and don't apply an aim system properly. A good catch is that lots of people will do an aim system but their pre-shot routine is putting them out of alignment and they're shooting themselves in the foot. They don't like the aim system--until they execute and then they're pleased.
