Lex Luther shoots pool in new Superman Movie

I was watching Letterman last night. Kevin Spacey was the guest. He was promoting the new Superman movie, in which he plays Lex Luthor.

Anyway, the showed a clip of the movie that featured Lex Luthor in his underground "layor" (i.e. lair), to quote Dr. Evil. So to make a long story short, there happened to be a pool table prominently featured in the "layor".

That sort of thing doesn't randomly appear if they're not going to show someone playing on it. So the question is, how well do we expect Lex Luthor to shoot stick, if this scene is included, which I suspect it will be?

Hey, Superman is expected to be super at everything, right? So how about some awesome trick shots, huh?

I doubt you'll see Luthor shooting pool. It's probably just a prop that they plopped into the scene. Who knows, though?

I bet he can do a wicked masse shot considering he can hover over the table and strike directly down upon the ball. Just think of the possibilities.

Great, all we need is another evil doer promoting billiards.

So true, Gregg. But, I'll bet Superman has an AWESOME break! Wonder if Lex Luthor will do any "sharking" Superman....like having a Kryptonite chalk holder and set it on the table....

Southpaw

I bet even SuperMan can't beat Dave "Ginger Wizard" Pearson's world speed record!

Rumor has it that as powerful a stroke as Superman has, he still can't play finger pool anywhere near the level of Mike Massey.

On the superman TV show a few weeks ago, superman went to Lex's house and there was a pool table there. They actually did something cool with it. I think superman pushed the table into someone and pinned them to the wall with it or something.

I bet in the movie Superman will use Lex Luthor's bald head as the cue ball and call the 8 in the side pocket for the win.

Oh man, Lex is gonna be ticked when he finds that his table needs to be re-leveled. :p

Have you ever noticed that, with very, very few exceptions, you only ever see Pool tables in movies in 2 scenarios:

1) The seedy bar location where the bad guys hang out. My favorite thing is when you get that pre-recorded SFX of a rack of balls being broken running in the background of the scene when there's no-one at the Pool table (Happens a lot if you watch out for it)

2) The super-rich mansion location - Here the Pool table is used a symbol of the indulgence of rich people, typically either a rich bad guy or a young idiot who's become suddenly rich in some comic fashion.

The Lex Luthor scene is clearly type 2.

well heres what it is im sure u all have seen Pool hall junkies in it it stars michael rosenbaum and hes the brother and hes also in SMALLVILLE a show i love he shots pool in the show quite often but not for a long amt of time and you guessed it he plays LEX in smallville therefore lex luthor must have a background playing pool its his hobby i guess so you might see lex playin pool in the new superman movie if a scene cuts to him thats just my oppinion

Well I just saw the movie( Don't worry you can keep reading I'm not revealing anything you don't get to see in first 10 minutes) at the sneek preview so I can fill you all in. In the movie Lex doesn't shoot pool, but one of his goons does. The pool table is in Lex's hideout which just happens to be a luxury yacht he gets when he cons a dying old woman to sign all of her possessions over to him.

Overall, was the movie any good??

Yea I liked it a lot, and thought it was pretty cool. I'm actually going to see it again on Thursday. The only thing I would say is that while the first 2 hours of the movie is awesome the last 30 min or so is kinda worthless.

I'm debating on blowing off work early and catching a matinee before a little bar tournament this evening... working from home has it's bennies sometimes... :)
