Hello,

Had a thread for help, and scheduled a lesson, booked a hotel room, and unfortunately the person called the evening before with car troubles

Looking for someone who thinks they can help me. I have some videos online from shooting, and im regressing badly.

Ill travel to you, or you can come here, and ill get your hotel room.

Lee and Mark were names brought to my attention, but i just dont know much about lessons.

Add a message here and lets set something up.

Thanks.

Hi there!

I can tell you that I started working with a great new coach about 2 years ago & he has helped my game tremendously. His name om here is SmoothStroke (SS for short) & he lives NJ. We usually get together at Elite Billiards in Edison,NJ for sessions on the weekends or the occasional weekday. They usually last 3-7 hours. We have worked on everything from pre-shot routine, fundamentals, strengthening my range of strokes, cue-ball control, rhythm, mental preparation, confidence, extreme spin control & execution, safeties, kicking & much more.

SS is also a very strong player who used to compete at a high level. This is very helpful because he can demo & show you himself what he is trying to teach you. Some good players have trouble playing & teaching, but SS has both skills to utilize. SS is also an excellent 3 cushion player & he introduced me to the game. Playing 3 cushion has greatly strengthened my safety game, angel management & my precision of object ball contact.

With SS coaching & some quality practice time, you're sure to improve!

I've been playing since I was 8 & started competing regularly at 18 & now at 31 the last 2 years have been a new level for me & it's been very exciting. I'm sure if you contact him you guys can work something out. I can't recommend him enough!

Hope this helps & good luck on your quest! Also he is a very cool & down to earth guy, which helps a lot in the learning process =).

Sincerely,
Emily Duddy

I had an appointment with Scott and he called the night before we were supposed to meet up at 8:15PM and mentioned he had car problems and wouldn't be able to make it the next day.

I was out $155 on a room for the night. In addition to losing out on a day of work. So, I'll pass on the Scott route.

Thanks Emily, good post, lots of info to think about.

Scott Lee travels and is one of the best in the business.

If you come through FL (Jacksonville), I would be more than happy to help. Not traveling up north any time soon though. Only person I could recommend up near you would be Jerry Briesath, and I'm not even sure if he's still teaching, but if so he would be up in the Madison, WI area. He's fantastic.

It's important to note here, that my lesson with Darren was cancelled because of car trouble...nothing I could about it (I ended up buying a new vehicle the next day). I tried to reschedule the lesson within a couple of days, but it didn't work out. I did not ask to be put up at a hotel (and certainly not one that expensive). That was Darren's offer. I feel bad that he was not able to get his money back on the room cancellation, but again, it was not my intention to miss the appt. In 30+ years of teaching, I can count on one hand the number of times that some kind of emergency caused me to have to cancel a lesson. On the other hand, over the years, I've had dozens of times when students cancelled out on me at the last minute. You have to learn to live with unexpected things like that. It is sad that I was unable to work with Darren right now, as I know I could help him with the problems he's having. Perhaps another time, and if not, I wish him well in his search for answers.

Isn't that what I said right here

I have known Scott for about ten years. I have never heard anyone say a negative thing about his teaching. He is completely professional in every way.
Scott loves helping people learn and improve their pool game. Almost all accounts of his lessons go above and beyond the lesson time allotted without charging extra for his time.
It is unfortunate that you missed the lesson. I believe if you spend some time with Scott you would join the many satisfied students.
Scott is constantly traveling the country helping people. Maybe when Scott is in your area you can work something out.
