Life expectancy of chaulk?

When I bought my table 10 years ago I bought a gross of Master Chaulk. Don't ask me why I bought a gross...I just did. Anyway, table has been broke down for about 8 years and remodeling a room to be able to set it back up. Do you think the chaulk will still be good? It has been stored in it's orginal box and in the attic above my garage.

What do you think?

The chalk will last indefinitely. Moisture could make it unuseable, but an hour or two in the oven at a low temp will fix that. About the only thing that might make it unsuitable for use is the paper wrapping falling off because the glue has dried out. In that case, the chalk would still be good, but it would be too messy to use.
 
Which brings me to another question.

Has anyone put chapstick, spit, or other thing in a chalk cube on the table for "testing" purposes? (FYI I haven't, I've just heard stories.)

Back in the old bar play'n days. I always (I mean I heard about this) would find a way to put the chalk (no U in chalk) face down on a table that happened to have spilled beer (I mean Soda) on it. This seemed to have always disabled the chalk. Lucky for me (I mean the guy that told me this), I (he) always had a clean dry piece in my back pocket.

Of course I would never stoop to these kid of dastardly tricks and I definately do not recommed that anyone else try my (these) tricks.

LOL! Perfect, I love how you wrote that. Nor would I stoop to that level but I it's something to be wary of with some of the less respectable in the game. (Earl Strickland; cough)

Masters Chalk cases are wrapped in plastic and the gross comes in a heavy cardboard box. It's fine. I have no doubt.
 
Is master chalk a good chalk to use cause I have been thinking of tryng it but I wanted other people's opinions first.

If it is blue, while there may or may not be an actual difference in the chalk, the demand is higher for the older "pre-flag" stuff than the new stuff. You can always sell it, if you don't anticipate using it yourself.

The chalk I have does not have a flag on it (if that is what you mean). The wrapping is red and says "Tweeter" and "Master Chalk" and on the bottom it has a picture of an elk. Most of the chalk looks good, but a couple pieces on top looks like the moisture might have gotten to them. Thanks for all the replies.

I usually put mine in the oven with a batch of brownies. Their both done about the same time. I take them out through away the chalk an eat the
brownies.

10 years ago falls in the time frame when lead was used in chalk. Of course if you don't mind your hair falling out and teeth missing it's ok. :D JK, but not about the lead, it was used.
