Lift at the joint collar

Hi, can anyone tell me how severe if my Judd jt-1 has a slight lift ( more than a card ) at the joint , is it considered warpped ?

Could it be due to the expansion of the metal rings at the joint ?
I'm just thinking if its worth salvaging as i like the butt alot and considering fitting some production shaft.
If its too severe then i may shelve my plan for the time being.

Anyone ?
Thanks

Typically that indicates a warp in the handle or A-joint, although it appears to be at the joint collar.
If it's as much as you say it could create quite a wobble at the tip when screwed together.
The handle can be replaced, but it will then need a refinish and a re-wrap, so the repair cost will be around $400 or so depending on where you send it.

Off the topic but I just picked up a Josh Fuller cue, made by Judd's son, and it looks similar to a JT-1..

I disagree, there isn't enough information, but I'd guess it is simply facing of the joint.

Thanks for the response :)

Guys, is there anuthing i can get to straighten it out ?

Does any cuemaker provides services that straightens out the cue or either minimize the lift at the joint ?

Also what can i do , would hanging the cue up like cuemakers do with their blanks can miraculously straighten it out ?

You can pay a cue maker to repair the warped handle or a-joint.

Hanging it won't fix it.

That's really your only option, pay to repair it or dump it cheap and get a straight cue

Use It as is it won,t hurt your game, and is still a nice cue. Resale value is degraded but for a player you will never know the difference.

Anyone you wld suggest doing it ?
I checked with Ryan from Rat cues and he says there's nothing he can do to fixed it.

Dumping it is'nt an option, i believe my Jt-1 is the only one ever made with ebony handle or i have ever come across with some spectacular birdseye maple.

He's made a few of them with ebony handle . Efren's road manager here had one .Efren even played with it .
Just ignore the little wobble if any. It will not affect your shooting .
Efren won the US Open with a warped cue and shaft.

What i meant was i haven't seen any Jt-1 with ebony handles YET but he may have made some.
Is the one with ebony handle with points that u mentioned the Jt-5 which he put a masking tape on because he felt it was too cold?

U meant the famous Jt-1 with the cocobolo handle or his jessy cue n shaft was warped ?
Now thats some really sick shit loll

You can tweak a joint collar. If it rolls straight with slight pressure on the butt you should see a wear mark in the collar.
