I've heard and read that it jumps pretty well... but for those of you who have tried it, how does it break?

I've tried it but am not really a big fan. It simply is too light. 13 oz or so for a break cue. There is one guy around here that demolishes a rack with the cue. Most of the guys that bought it have sold it. For $200, I would spend the money on either a J&J or a Fury. For $400, the Varney is the way to go.

Opinion

This is my opinion, the old argument about lighter vs heavier break cues:

To say, you can stroke a lighter faster, yeah, considering the length of the stroke, maybe 1 mph faster if that. A few ounces is not going to make that much difference. What matters is your stroke and strength to begin with, that determines your range of force on the cue ball. yes, getting your body weight into it increases the force, something a lot of players never understand.

Get what is comfortable for you to have. If you aren't strong for your size, a 19, 20, or 21 might feel heavy to you. If you are strong, a less than 19 oz. might feel like a toothpick to you.

I have tried light Break cues, and it always felt like I was hitting the cue ball with a straw. Mine is 19.5 oz. which is comfortable for me. My playing cue is about 20 oz.

Oh, the Dr. Popper jump cue, from what I have been told, will get up in the air, but accuracy is a problem.

Around here a number of players have those cues. It is definitely a personal choice. I can't stand it. Way too light. But that is because of how I deliver my break. A super light cue doesn't match my break style. Other players, however, use almost exclusively wrist and snap a break without using much of their arm, so, IMO those players seem to like the LB better.

It does jump very well insofar as getting the ball airborne. Do not expect to be able to do much else IMO.

I bought one very cheap and sold it for the same price to someone who liked it.

IMO its not worth the retial price of 200.00+. Should be more like 125 or 150, but it does a decent job. I feel like I am going to break the damn thing though, It's to light.

PM iasaxman. I saw him this weekend and he has one. He can give you a detailed opinion. I couldn't believe how light it was. His is 12oz!

I sell them for $150.00 + shipping each. 12-17oz. They sell well in our local league due to APA restrictions on jumping equipment, and these are the easiest cue to jump with at full length.

I tried one that belongs to a friend of mine. I didn't care for how light it was and the g-10 tip was hard as hell to control the cueball with

Thanks for the replies guys, I ended up going with a J&J J/B (which worked pretty well last time around... I can't remember why I sold it to begin with).
