Like to listen to music while playing?

I have seen a trend in tourneys that looks like it's not going to stop any time soon. People are listening to iPod or others music players while they play. I think that this might have some great benefits, and could cure those " I got sharked!" blues.

I have decided to do the same, but I have yet to find out what type of music is most beneficial and relaxing.

Any suggestions on music type for tournament play?

Anyone here do this?

Not really, I listen to whatever the poolhall plays. Besides, my mom would beat the living crap out of me if i did such a thing. :)

I'm not sure why I just find myself shaking my head everytime this subject comes up.

Ya know it used to just be gloves... Now it's gloves an Ipods..

My advice would be to listen to Johnny Lang's "Rack 'Em Up". It would be especially beneficial, IMHO, to focus particularly on the line "Ain't no shame in bein' beaten by your master". In fact, it would make a great mantra for you.

Yeah, next thing you know people will want to make their vision better and where spectacles or even contact lenses for God's sake!

One of the project ideas I have is to convert billiard shots into music. I have talked about this with a music engineer friend on and off for a while.

I know how to make a software to track colors in video signals and covert them into positional data, or to be saved directly into CueTable format for some interesting use

At the same time, I can feed the live data into MIDI sequencing software such as MAX and have software play the sound back instantly to the player.

It will be like changing the title of this thread to "Listening to your shots while playing them" :)

Anything you do is an art expression...

if on the rare occasion i do decide to listen to music while playing, it's usually slowdive - two albums; souvlaki and just for a day. both really dreamy, airy, relaxing, soaring and uplifting. the sort of stuff you'd expect to be playing if you were drifting in the clouds. lol. it's what i want in music for pool. it relaxes me and gives me confidence. obviously it depends what effect you want - if you want something to get you pumping with rage to beat some bastard you don't like then slowdive won't be for you lol.

Blues and Guitar

Stevie Ray Vaughn, Cream, Jimi. I actually hook my laptop up to my stereo and have created some music channel on www.pandora.com. I love that site.

I also enjoy Tool.

So where do you put the laptop when you're shooting? Does it get in the way of your shot?

That is an EXCELLENT idea that should be perpetuated to include other games and/or activities. Let us know how you have progressed on this in the future.

I love my iPod and like to listen to different mixes depending on if I am playing alone or for money or in a tournament. I like bluegrass and country and I love me some John Prine something fierce. Hence my signage under my name...also good; Sam Cooke, Allison Krauss and Blossom Dearie.
I also like more up-tempo if I am getting tired or need to be in a fighting mode, nothing beats The Pogues when I need to really kick some ass.

Hey! I like music just like the next guy... or gal. But, if you don't hear me when I say, "That's two on you," DON'T BLAME ME! :D
