Hey linda i just noticed on the b.c.a. website that you got runner up in artistic pool championship and speed pool championship in vegas 2005.Late congrats, but if you could tell us a few stories about this I would like to hear them.;)

Hi Jimmy,

There's really not that much to tell. I love the beauty of artistic pool. Mike is really good; he has such a great stroke! He actually won a qualifier here and had more points on the first day than the 2nd place finisher had in both days! Mike gave up his spot to the L.A. championships and it turned out that the 2nd place guy (sorry, can't remember his name) won the first 3 disciplines! We did go watch since we were in Jay's L.A. Open.

One shot cinched the competition against me at the BCA and it was a 5 rail kick into a ball with a quarter sitting on it (I nailed it first shot at the qualifier!) and you had to nudge the ball without knocking off the quarter.

For some reason, we all got 3 tries on that shot, but Susie got 4 tries and she got it on her last try, so she snatched victory away from me. :(

Kudos to Tom Rossman for his promotion of artistic billiards and his tireless efforts on behalf of the sport, as well as to his wife, Marty.

In the speed pool, Dawn Hopkins' son ran it. He is such a great guy! In between racks, we got to talk a lot. Or rather, when I was trying to catch my breath. I guess it was quite a feat getting to the finals, since I was beating girls 1/3 my age! The only trick to that is to make stop shots as much as you can and nudge balls open that are stuck, chalk and plan while you are waiting for the ball to stop rolling. Wear good tennies and run your dang a$$ off!
