Is there a reason for a wrap either linen or leather? I have several cues with linen/leather wraps & some without. I really do not notice any difference when playing. Are wraps just cosmetic or do they serve some purpose I am not aware of?

It's all just comfort, feel, and to some extent appearance.
Generally, wraplesss cues feel sticky when your hand gets sweaty and you want to adjust position. Leather and linen allow the hand to be slid easily into position, and they absorb some of the moisture from your hand. Some people don't like the way these materials feel or look.
I use a stack leather wrap from Tiger. It is smooth like wrapless but absobs moisture. For me, this is the most comfortable. i would probably go wrapless otherwise or smooth leather.
