Liquor License cost.

I always wondered why the local pool hall here didn't have a liquor license since it would probably bring in business but then I checked it out and a liquor license in New Mexico runs $250'000 and up.

One license sold 70 miles from here recently brought $750'000.

From what I read a beer and wine license for a restaurant is $1100.00,
I don't know what they consider to be a restaurant.

In Washington State for just Beer I pay $145 per year, it is called a Snack Bar License!

Apparently in New Mexico there are only something like 1450 licenses total so if you want one you have to buy an existing license from someone that already has one, there are law firms that specialize in transferring these licenses, seems there is lots of money to be made by many different hands.

Never, I repeat never, buy a liquor license without the assistance of an attorney that specializes in liquor law! There is a lot of shady stuff that goes on buying existing licenses and you need a good liquor attorney to see those things coming... Plus, most of the time they know all of the licenses that are available in which areas and they often buy them themselves to hold them in conservatorship. Ask around first for some recommendations on which attorney to use though, they are attorneys after all!

Here in Ohio a license will cost you $10,000 to $150,000.

Friend has a Pizza Joint here in Arizona, he don't sell Beer, or Wine, but customers can bring there own in, and the license cost him like 25 BUCKS Annually.

He makes his money on food, and has no liquor liability.

a restaurant closed in town and its license was acutioned off and went for 50k.
