I was watching the game since 51-43 or so in favor of Majirina, Nechaeva at the table. These two are one of the strongest Russian female players, and I was disappointed with their straight pool knowledge. They pocket the balls pretty well and even sometimes can string racks together, but their defensive skills suck big time. They were trying to nudge the rack slightly all the way and park the cb near the foot rail, or were using a lone free object ball to play the same defense. All this instead of freezing the whitey to the rack and developing some loose balls to put pressure on the opponent. I'm going to post the same in our local forums, I'm even ready to provide illustrated hints based on, say, Capelle's book. I'm annoyed noone managed to teach them basic skills and they try to play the game like 8-Ball at its best. I'm not even talking about patterns, but their defense... I was pretty frustrated to see that, because any knowledgeable player, even a lesser shooter, should beat them with ease.I just finished watching Nechaeva win over Majirina 75-69. Quite cautiously played at the end but enjoyable to watch.
Wow Dennis, I have no idea how you managed to dig this! You don;t understand Russian, so you?![]()
Yes he is. Was invited this year also but due to global financial crisis even the travel is a bit expensive now, and he had to pay the "invitation fee" or whatever it was.I see Stepanov in one of them. Same guy that was at the World's last year?
I might be able to get the original records, hopefullyI see they have some earlier matches of 14.1 recorded, too.
Do you know how to download them off ustream. So far, no good for me.
