I watched Liz Ford yesterday morning at the Turning Stone play Dan Heidrich in the 1 loss bracket. I had never heard of her before but was really impressed. Liz was down 8-6 with Heidrich breaking and looked destined to loose. Heidrich was looking at the crowd and giving the "how did I miss that look" whenever he missed in the final racks and looking at the referee when he got a bad roll as to say "how is this happening". Ford never batted an eye, remained focused and came back and won 9-8. I have seen a lot of great players play when they are down and for a young "up rising playerr" on the WPBA, Liz showed me a lot. She won that match by poise and determination. Skill always plays a part, but she strictly won that match by having a superior mental game. I really learned a valuable lesson from watching that game!!!

Dude, that's not fair. I know Liz and she would never use langauge like that. She always shows respect when she's matched-up favorably, winning or losing. She carries herself equally well when she's the underdog. Ask Earl Strickland.:eek:

I think, if anything, she earned the right to be exempt from comments like this. All she does is pocket balls and slide beads. If she has more beads than her opponent, she wins and that's that.
 
Actually, I believe she was wearing a green shirt. Thanks to CMSMITH9 and Jude for their "Positive Comments" on the thread. I never questioned either players skill level when I started the thread. All the players at a major tournament can beat each other at any given time. The instance I mentioned just sorta "rang a bell in my mind" that said when 2 players are playing, particularly at the end of a match like Liz and Dan's, that the deadfast focus that Liz displayed, all other things being equal, can absolutely mean the difference in coming back and winning or losing. That game just turned on a light for me and I will carry that memory when playing when I'm down 8-6 in the future.

I played at the first Predator tourney and I was playing on the table next to her. She is WAY too good for comments like this. She plays a great game and it is not a shock when she takes out a top player.
