I was very saddened to read about Bill Elliott's passing on the AzBilliards Main Page. He was a mainstay on the regional tournament trail in my area and known to many. He loved pool and was a frequent traveler on the Planet Pool tournament trail as well as competed in the U.S. Open.

I remember speaking with him last year, and he was looking forward to moving to Florida. He even went so far as to look at several homes. I did not know he had lung cancer. I just saw him not too long ago at a tournament. We chatted a bit, and he seemed fine.

I will miss seeing Bill, and my deepest sympathies go out to his family and friends, many of whom are regular posters right here on this forum. May he rest in peace!

Bill was a nice guy, a good pool player, and was well respected among the local pool players. I'm sorry to hear about his passing.
 
I had no idea he was in poor health. He was playing leagues and looking energetic last time I saw him, about a month ago.

Bill was a great guy, an excellent player, and universally well liked. He was always willing to show beginning players a few things to help them out with their game. He always beat me, but still managed to make me feel good about my game in the process. He was really a credit to the game.

Very sad news. Bill played in my Thursday night league and unfortunately none of us knew his health was failing. I hope we'll have some way to honor him this season.

I first met Bill when he thumped me in a 8 ball tournament in 2003 (which his good bud Shorty won as usual). He was a gentleman to play against and complimented my game afterward. Bill was always approachable about pool and never minded sharing tips and ways to improve.

We'll miss you Bill.
 
He was always cheerful and pleasant to be around at local tournaments. Very sad to hear this news.

OMG. That is awful news.

There were few nicer people than Bill and I can share that I am truly saddened to read this news. Goodbye, Bill. Your friends will miss you in a great way.
 
So sad to hear of Bill's passing. A good guy and good player. I always saw him with a cup of coffee. I finally asked him "just how much coffee do you drink". Expecting 4, 5 or maybe six cups to be his response...I was floored when he said "about twenty-five cups a day." I'm sure he was serious too. That's a lot of brew.

I only met Bill a few times, but he was a strong shooter and a nice guy. RIP.

Bill Elliott Passes AwayAs some of you may know by now, we are sad to announce that long-time tour supporter/player and friend of many of us, Bill Elliott passed away last Friday, August 25th from complications stemming from advanced lung cancer. Bill's memory will live on in our hearts and minds and will be missed dearly. The viewing and funeral will be held out-of-town in Pennsylvania this Thursday and Friday. The family would like to have a memorial for Bill with all of his friends and family that is scheduled for this Saturday at Champion Billiards (Shirlington location) beginning at 7:00 p.m. For more information about the funeral and memorial services, you may contact Jack Whetstine at JGW@nrc.gov.​
