Coonies in Logansport is having a 64 man, $500 added bar table tournament. I scanned in the flyer and saved it as a pdf for those interested.

It will be May 21, at 2:00 pm sharp. Race to 5, played on Dynamo tables with simonis cloth.

A bit of exciting news, here in "The Corn Forest", for sure. Here is a link to Coonie's. I hope all AZB'ers within driving distance can show up for this.

I talked to Rob, Coonie's son-in-law and the new proprietor of Coonie's Rack And Cue, yesterday. He said he has 32 palyers registered already, limited to 64. I have a feeling this tournament is going to be big. Here is a page from the website with a mapquest of the location. It is only an hour and a half from Indianapolis, Merrillville, or South Bend, Lafayette and Kokomo are even closer. Come on out, you'll have a good time. :)

Never heard of the place...but after seeing the website I will definately be there. I'm about 2 1/2 hours away. Anybody been there before? It looks like a great pool hall. I would like to see the flyer as well if you don't mind.

If its limited to 64 players and there are already 32 do you think I should call before hand to get signed up or will he expand the tourny if more then 64 want to play?

i think they'll lock it up at 64. YES call if you want in.

the place is great. maybe 12 bar tables with simonis. they've also got a couple of GC's on the side. no smoking or alcohol, good cheap food/drinks.

if you want a preview, there's a $25 tourney on the 7th, usually draws 20-something players. i imagine with the other tourney coming up, the field will be bigger then also.

a side question: joe, brian...? whoever: do they still have wednesday 9-ball up there? my league ended so i can start coming...:P

The bar tables at Coonie's, do not take quarters. They have drop pockets, that means no big cue balls. The two 9' tables are Brunswick Centurions, they play nice.

I'm in.:) See you guys on the 21st. My name is Josh Eisert. I'm a good B player so I'm hoping I will at least be in the middle of the field as far as speed goes. What kind of punishment am I in for anyways?:p

Hi Josh,
The way I see it, a B here and a B there, may not always be the same. That makes it hard for me to say 'yeah you'll fall in the middle of the pack'. I have seen some really good pool played there. I can tell you this though, the players that go there are very friendly and I am confident you'll have a good time. Anyway, when I see who you are I'll introduce myself.

Sounds good Tracy. I never played a looser breaks tourny before. This place does seem like one hell of a pool hall. Do you go there much?

Yep still having them. Had about 12 of us last week I think. Usually gets started about 6:45 because we have to wait on porkchop and brian most of the time *lol*

Question?

In reading the flyer... I just wondered why the players would have to flip a coin twice...I never understood why a tournament is run that way...I've played in several race to two 8 ball tournaments with the same rules....I've lost a match and never got to break...I lost both flips of the coin...I live in South Bend...is this just an Indiana thing or what...just seems like or one flip should do it...a true loser breaks...either way, I will try to come down and play...I have been down to coonies once and it's a nice clean smoke free place.

Regards,

Jeremy

Jeremy

as for flipping for the last break on the hill...i dont have an answer for you jeremy, i have asked them the same question myself....

lets say its 3-3 in a race to five...

using the format at coonies, it actually penalizes you for getting to the hill first.

you win the next game to make it 4-3....your opponent breaks and runs out making it 4-4 and then wins the flip, the odds are with him to break and run out again, therefore preventing you from even having a chance to win the set, even tho you got to the hill first...

never understood it either jeremy...it must be a hoosier thing.

see you there....

there are just below 40 sign ups already and it will be limited to 64.

$500 added to the entry fee money of $40 ($10 greens)

so 30 x 64 = $1920 + $500 added = $2420 paid over 16 places :D :D

easy possibility of first paying out well over $1500

whats up steve? c'mon over wed!

Hi All, My name is Abe and I am new here - just wanted to look around and see what you guys are all about - I am an old school player, and I love to hear the goings on in the Billiard World - thanks for any tips or advice - look forward to meeting some interesting players - I live in New York and was wondering if anyone can recommend a place? I'm pumped up for this. I can't wait. I've been playing alot lately and my hopes are high.:) I'm still kind of worried about the looser breaks though. I've been stringing some racks together lately but I guess it will work to both players advantage or dis-advantage.

had 61 signed up wednesday...some out of state road players as well...should be entertaining.
