Oh garsh, guys, now my face is getting red <looking down and digging toe in carpet>
The problem with winning the mini-tournament (we each got $150 btw) was that it ruined the 'player's auction' the next day. No one knew the rest of my team (Cindy Sliva and Eddie Mataya) from Adam but because I ran out every rack when I got the opportunity, they thought I was undefeatable. Ha! We went for $390! We took half of ourselves. Now, we are not the best team there. There had been a doubt that Eddie could get off work to play with us, so we were going to substitute with Raul. Instead, Eddie can make it and Raul puts together a killer team with Don Wirtaman and Jr. (Bad Neck Filipino) and they go for $670 which I buy and they take half of themselves.
Well, of course you guessed it. We drew each other first round. We watched everyone come by and draw their cards. I told Eddie to draw as I have such bad luck with the draw (legendarily bad, as I always draw my husband first) and Eddie drew #8. We watched everyone come by with their cards and no #7. No one from Raul's team even drew a card. What was left over? Yep, #7.
Funny thing is, we beat Raul's team. We all played so well. After that everything seemed like it might turn out all right, because then, maybe we would meet in the Finals. We beat the next team 5-0. (If the team had 3 guys on it, they had to go to 7, we only had to go to 5. If they had the same amount of women as us, they went to 5 as well. If it was 3 women on the team, they went to 4 and we went to 5.)
We went and ate some awesome pizza and stuffed ourselves. Not good.
The next team turned out to be 3 locals that couldn't play shape worth anything. One thing I noticed about almost all of the locals is that they could make balls pretty well, but made no effort to break out their problem ball until it was the last ball. And they did not have a clue where the cueball was going. It would bounce around 4 rails, go off 20 balls and then land on the toughest ball on the table, perfectly, lol. It was pretty funny, because there was no plan, they just took the easiest balls on the table and figured where they landed was where they would figure out the next shot. I would play for any amount of money to have them call the next 3 shots and show me how they were going to get there.
This particular team had a guy on there that was totally obnoxious. No matter which way we were shooting, he would stand in front of the pocket. While you were down stroking the ball, he would be talking and moving his head, his stick...pretty much a bar player. Cindy schooled him on ethics, but it didn't matter. He got us on several crucial shots. He was also engaging the audience as well. We tried shaming him, but we should have gotten the TD involved; ethics was just not a huge part of this guy's makeup.
So anyway, they win and the place goes wild. We go over to the loser's side and guess what, we will play Raul's team again in 5th/6th. The board seemed wrong, but with only 16 teams, and using half of a Playpool.com board, I was not going to argue. Losing out in 5th, with payouts starting at 4th place, one of us will go home with no chance of getting in the money OR the auction money. It really sucked!
When we played, we lost the flip as we did before every match (how are we rolling? lol We all took turns calling it, too!

) Losing the first break and always having to rotate players with long gaps between Eddie playing was a factor in losing (the first time, Raul's team decided to take Home, that oddly, had to rotate. Later they wised up and took visitors and still got first break, winners break thereafter.) They played well, but we didn't capitalize either. So we are out of the tournament and I am just waiting today to see how Raul's team fares and hopefully, get even on the auction.
Also, my baby, my laptop, broke down this weekend. While I was waiting around, I tried to install my new wireless card from Verizon. Timberly, if you read this, BEWARE, it automatically installs with a compression agent called Venturi client which causes known problems with a whole list of programs that are listed on the internet. So, now I am sitting in a wonderful repair shop with a great couple, Adrian and Pamela and their baby daughter, Heather. We are fast friends. They are going to go get Mexican food for us now.
I was here last night until 11, while he tried restoring several times, my 'puter. He also ghosted the drive so we could re-format the drive, if necessary. He has been at it again since 10 am and we are now barely up to where it was before it crashed. The CD software is bundled, so there is no way to do an install without it and we are very hesitant to reinstall it. 3 tech support calls last night to Verizon were very unproductive, which is an understatement. Basically, they said we should have called them before installation!

Those morons did not know anything. I went all the way up to the top in their tech support and they could not offer any solutions. WTH!!
OK, I will be better after my Mexican food gets here, lol.
Lisa, it was certainly a pleasure meeting you. Lisa is quite the fireball and I love her chutzpah. I did give her a few pointers that will help her game. Happy shooting and I hope to come up and visit your 'hood again soon. Today, they have the streets blocked off with some kind of biker street fair and a band. Looks like the street will be rocking!
And Eydie, you know the feeling is mutual.
