Long Term cue storage

Is their any information out their on the best way to store a unused cue for years? So that it doesn’t Warp ect?

Straight up in a case. I would use something that holds it tighter like a JB interior. Although many people just leave it however and they are fine. If it's built well and uses good seasoned wood, you can leave it in any stable position and should be fine, on a table, in a display case, etc..

I had my Joss in the trunk of my car in Mass for 2 solid years, it had no warping at all when I took it out again.

Don’t do like dumbass snow bird who left Cue Case in trunk of Arizona Car in Garage all summer.

It got to 122 couple of times outside, so I am sure Trunk in closed garage got hot n dry.

Cues were made in Asia, and looked line Romain Noodle befor cooking.🚽🤡

I'm questioning this storage issue also, though not for really long term like the OP.
I have 2 cues and 3 shafts that I don't use very often stored in a JB 2x3 case.
I also have a Pechauer 3x5 that's not tight. My 1x2 GTF is also extremely tight.

JB Cases are excellent, that's not to be argued, but I do worry that they are in there so tight
that the constant pressure may warp a shaft if the pressure is pushing a certain way on a shaft.
It's tight regardless of how they are oriented. I load them with all JP's up, or all JP's down.

At times I'll take all of my cues and shafts, (5 cues & 8 shafts), and hang them all on an inside corner
for a while using those rubber shaft hangers from Seyberts.

Not hi-jacking the thread but is there a worry about them being TOO tight in a case long-term?

Tie a string around the shaft and hang it from a closet hanger so there are no bending forces (technically moments) on the shaft.

the asian cues all warp because they are not dried. if you have well seasoned wood it wont warp.
i have an old cue i keep in my car for the last 50 years. it goes through all 4 seasons and included summers in las vegas and winters 20 below zero. and high humidity summers also. still straight as an arrow..

my playing cues stay on the table and never warp. either do the ones in a stand up rack.

now if you hung a cue from the ends horizontally then of course it would warp alot.

You should be able to leave them in a temperature controlled home closet indefinitely in an upright position. In a case would be best.

In a secure case, standing up at the back of a dark closet, kept at room temperature. Essentially they are in hibernation waiting to be brought back to life again.

I was thinking about getting some cheap joint protectors and drilling a hole for a string or wire to hang them. This way, nothing would be touching the finish of the cue and they would hang perfectly straight.

It also suspect warpage could be a legitimate concern from long term storage in a padded case. If one part of the case has say a bit more padding than another part then it is exerting different amounts of pressure on different parts of the shaft and butt which could conceivably warp them over an extended period of time.

I have a Joss that has been in a Joe Porper case for the better part of 30 years. Still straight as an Arrow

Mine are in various cases. Some lay flat.. some vertical in a closet. No issues.

Know a guy that collects cues. All he uses is JB's to store them. No warpage. They way they load i don't ever see this happening.

I have some two-piece house cues that don't get used that much. I have a 20x20 roller that I put all my cues in. Seems to work fine.
