Long Term Investment Potential--cues

Which 7 cuemakers work (living or deceased) has the greatest long term (20+ yrs) investment potential?:)

According to a collector whose opinion I value greatly, cues by "Tim Scruggs" are what you should buy and hold these days.

I think Bob Runde's custom work is WAY undervalued. He does gorgeous work and they aren't overly priced "these" days.

ive heard andy gilbert is gonna stop making simple cues sometime soon. his entry level cues could skyrocket after that, but you never know.

Gus Szamboti
Barry Szamboti
Balabushka
Ginacue
Schick
Richard Black
Black Boar

I included Schick, RB and BB because I don't think they will be making cues in 20 years due to their age. thus making their cues more valuable. The first three are obvious... Other cues that will increase in value are: Hercek, Mc Worter, Tad, Tibbetts (spelling?), and Searing. It would also be advisable to have an Ernie Martinez cue in your collection.

The more I look, the more I am thinking Richard Black is the most underrated cuemaker around, even though he is a living legend.

Tim Scruggs and Paul Mottey cues will go up in value when they retire, and it looks as if their apprentices, James White and Mike Cochran, are ready to take the mantle, so you may see a sharp jump in their prices in the short term (not that they are a bargain now).

Jerry McWorter and Rick Chuddy are making spectacular and somewhat more contemporary cues, but the quality of their work will be more apparent 20 years from now. Thomas Wayne created this category, but the market for his cues is weak right now. In 20 years I'd bet people's tunes will change on his stuff.

Barry S, Dennis S, Pete T, and Joel H will all appreciate.

I am hearing that as the Chinese integrate more with the world economy, all collectables will rise dramatically in value. China's population is essentially new to the economic world, and with a billion people, there are bound to be enough interested in pool, to make China the next Japan in terms of desire for collectables.

I think I know, but I really don't want to say at this point. You'll have to figure it out. Let's just say what I like is a lot is BS anyway.

IMHO---alpha order
BUSHKA..watka swilling RUSSKIE was the man of his era..Will one of his
be the first to bring 7 digits?

DPK..you'll only hit singles with "omega/dpk"....HOME RUNS with fancy,
custom works.

GINA..catalogue cues might disappoint...his custom cues WON'T

SOUTHWEST..fancy examples will be HUGE

SEARING..darkhorse--worthy as long as current quality standards and
production levels are maintained. For those who demand
perfection. Potential to be the best of the best.

B.SZAM.. forget the name..he'd be on my list if his name is SAM BOTI.
The only question I have is if his cues will bring more than
his fathers in the distant future.

G.SZAM..Bushka to the next level...will one of his be the first to command
a mill?

STRONG arguments can be made for many others to crash the party. No
doubt many home runs will be hit with cues made by BLACK, MOTTEY,SCHICK,SCRUGGS,STROUD,TASCARELLA,etc. If you have the right ones keep your hands strong enough to hang on.:)

Well, i am chinese, but a Singapore born Chinese. Pool sports has a big potential in China simply becos Chinese has always been incorrigible gamblers.
And with the cultural and historic relations between Taiwan and China, and considering the taste of Taiwanese are SWs, TADs, Zylrs and Szambotis, by ur reasoning, i would suppose these would be the the blue chips.
Recently i posted in a Taiwan cue forum wondering why there was a lack of interest in Searing Cues. Surprisingly a number of them replied that its not that they dun wanna own a Searing, its simply too rare ...

IMHO -->>

Japan, England, and USA:

BUSHKA
DPK
GINACUE
FANCY SOUTHWEST
SEARING
B.SZAM
G.SZAM
B. SCHRAGER

### No body mentions B. Schrager. IMHO, Schragers' gonna be the dark horse. There are not many in the market and Mr. Schrager just quitted making cues a few months ago. His early ivory scrimshawed cues will be a hit.

Taiwan, China, Singapore, and Europe:

FANCY SOUTH WEST
DPK
TAD
GINACUE
JOSSWEST

### Wood to wood jointed cues are most popular here. Due to their short cue collecting history, ppl are not familiar with bushka or szambotis in these areas.

for all time best value my fav's are..

Balabushka
G.Szamboti
B.Szamboti
Tascarella
Searing
Southwest (JF)
Peterson
and 2 more Tad (by Tad) and DPK

Recent.....

B.Szamboti
Tascarella
Searing
Cognoscenti
Showman
Hercek
Josey (of course) :D

Balabushka - harder and harder to get. More collectors keep these on very short supply.

Gus Szamboti - see above.

Franklin made South Wests - If Laurie did not continue, these cues would be 3500-4000 for plain 6 pointers.

DPK - Short supply, early work is hard to find. Old age.

Barry Szamboti - name says it all, and there are other Szamboti's in the wings (could be first third generation cue maker in the mix)

Mottey / White- Paul hints at cutting back, and Jim makes a great cue

Skip Weston - still short supply, and he ain't ramping production, chain smoker.. lol

Gina - Can't say more than the name

Joe
