Longest Extreme Draw Shot Recorded

KMR:

You didn't read the thread far enough. You stopped at that post (the one you quoted and responded to), but didn't read further. Go to posts #33 and #35. They'll answer your concerns and refute the info you post above. ;)

I had not read those posts at the time I posted. However I have since read them and do not see that they refute what I posted. I have no concerns really, so none to be answered.

A cue ball is 2.25" tall. Thus center ball from a horizontal perspective is 1.25" above the cloth. In order to eliminate the possibility of a below center hit with a level cue, you would need to be using a cue with a butt nearly the diameter of the cue ball, no? The butt could slide on the cloth, so no grip issues. I fail to see why you believe as you do. This whole topic is a bit useless overall...mostly irrelevant to whether a person can get lively draw or not. I just find it entertaining when people come on screaming (all caps) that someone else is wrong about some technical thing, but didn't really think through the technical part. No worries...continue to believe as you do and it won't bother me the slightest bit  You probably feel the same, so we're good.

FYI: level means the center of the tip is the same height off the cloth as the center of the butt. And I don't know of too many butts that are not tapered.

Not sure if anyone notices Massey says in explaining the shot before and after that he has to drop his elbow and follow through long, where in fact he did not, his follow through is barley 3-5" . Watch where the cue tip ends at in the shot it does not pass the side pocket, but his explanation after the cue tip is way pass the side pocket.

Respectfully, you are completely missing the points of my posts. First, that's an old thread. Second, it started out as a bit of a strong reply back to whitewolf, for his never-ending attack on instructor-taught material concerning the importance of a low and level cue for best accuracy and effectiveness on draw shots, material that was withstood the test of time. Third, there was a bit of playful repartee with Donny Lutz about pedantic details -- all in fun.

Was the all-caps thing over the top? Perhaps -- but then again, it was a strong response specifically to whitewolf to drive a point home. Is the all-caps thing something you normally see from me? I think you can honestly say it's not -- it's very unusual coming from me. Agree?

And concerning the pedantic details, anyone knows "low and level" cue actually means "as low and level as you can achieve." This is the way you perform draw shots, the way I perform draw shots, etc. Normally -- and exacerbated by the taper of the cue -- this means the cue will always have a slight angle downwards to allow the grip hand clearance above the surface area of the table as well as the rail.

Capicé?
