Looking at 2 different lathe setups, any input?

I just set one of these lathes up in my shop and have a couple of questions if you don't mind. What speed and cutter do you use when trimming the sides of the tip? The lathe really surprised me how nice it is, considering all the junk that Harbor Freight sells.

Thanks in advance for the help.

Contrary to some of the advice given... this lathe can handle most any shaft repair/maintenance you encounter.
For less than $150, you can add a second bed to handle the full length of a shaft or butt. A search on 'mini lathe'
will show many good setups(including RHN's) that give plenty of flexibility to do cue repair.

The MidAmerican lathe will also handle most all REPAIR situations.

When and if you ever decide to build cues - both will still be handy to have around.

I built this framework with a Delrin bearing to support the rear of the shaft:

I wrapped the shaft with painters tape before I started because there is still some packing grease inside the spindle.

I also made the collets out of a Delrin rod.

Turns out I can get there from here.

This was a shaft from my Huebler Sneaky Pete. I put a Moori Medium on it and it shoots like a dream. I'm very happy with this setup.
