Looking at a GC III

I'm off in a bit to look at a one-owner GC III, disassembled, owner moving to smaller home. Is there anything in particular I should look for when I inspect it?

Also, how does one 'diamonize' a III? Is it something I can do myself or is there a mechanic in SE Florida who is competent enough to do it? I've read about the necessity to change the rubber and it makes sense to do the modification at the same time. Any idea about cost, for budget purposes?

Thanks much,

Mike

To "diamonize" or 'cobrasize" a GC3....you're going to have to first find a table mechanic that can do that, and I don't know of any in Florida as of right now. Mark Gregory is the only table mechanic I know of that travels to that area to work, otherwise he's up by Atlanta, GA.

Thanks, Glen. A dealer snapped it up while I was enroute to see it. The search continues. Looking at an oak Diamond today in a bar, asking $2500. Also found a Big G for 'free', needs a couple of new sides. As a woodworker that doesn't phase me.

Appreciate your comments to me and to the forum. You've certainly helped build up the body of knowledge.

Stick with Diamond or Brunswick

If you are going to go throught the trouble and expense of getting your table calibrated, stick with either the Diamond or the Gold Crowns. You will be happier with the finished product. JMO Gordon
