need some advice here...i am looking purchase new case 2x4 and i need some help. i have been looking for a while and narrowed it down to either a instroke or talisman. my understanding is that the instroke offers insulation from the weather (i know it is not the right thing to do but i do leave my case in my truck during the day...i never know when i will have a chance to slip away and play...but i will take it into my office on exteme days). and my thoughts are that it is made in the USA.

the talisman offer an extra pocket for your chalk (which is nice) but is made outside the USA. but i have not read anything about the inside of the case.

i know both are very nice...so i am looking for some input from people that have them and to let me know what their thoughts are.

thank you in advance

Neither is made in the USA so you can forget that distinction. If you want made in the USA you'll have to go elsewhere. I've never heard bad things about Instroke and I have heard bad things in terms of quality about Talisman. I don't own a Instroke leather case (though I soon will thanks to the DCC raffle), but I own an Instroke vinyl premier case. The premier is a good case, and I expect the leather cases are too. The Instroke had a excellent rep when the company was owned by John Barton (onepocketchump). He sold the company, but assures us all that the quality has not diminished and I've heard no complaints about the cases produced by the company under it's present ownership.
My suggestion go with the Instroke, unless you can afford a Justis, Whitten, or Murnak, all made in the USA custom cases. I think Giuseppe and Proper are made in the USA too, but they aren't the same quality as these others or the Instroke.

I've had an Instroke for a couple of years - taken it across oceans, deserts, and mountain ranges, had it doused with beer (both good and bad), manhandled by TSA, and kicked in pool halls many times, and its holding up great! No complaints at all. Great case.

If you can consider $300 or so go for a good used Whitten 2x4. they show up frequently and you wont loose any money. I may upgrade soon and will be selling mine to buy a Justis. PM me if you have interest.

case

Try a Dennis Swift. Less expensive than either of the cases mentioned, hand made in the USA by Dennis, quick delivery, insulated, I have one and love it and just ordered another.

You may want to look at the 2x4 Whitten I have posted in the "for sale" section of the forum. Extremely nice handmade case by Dan Whitten in FL. You can't even find a loose stitch...his work is flawless.;)

Cases

If I was going to spend $300 or more on a case, I would just save a little more and get a Justis Pro-Lite case or a Jim Murnak Vintage Case. I kind of a thing about cases and jump cues, and have done a lot of research on both.

A Whitten isn't a bad choice either, but would be my 3-4-5th choice in a
GOOD case.

The truth is, if you take care of your equipment, which means keeping it in a controlled environment except for very short periods, your cues will be fine.
I never leave my cues in the trunk of my car. They go from my house to the passenger seat in my car, to the poolroom and back.

I have a nice Instroke - old smooth black leather, not fancy Cowboy. It looks like the new vinyl Premiere model (zipper top). I would recommend Instroke's, just because of the quality/price - very solid, easy to carry, doesn't stick out like a sore thumb.

if ure going with instroke go for there other line i think it s called "winn" same thing except not as pricey and there both made overseas

win cases are actually made by instroke.. and they are re badged with the company's logo so they can be sold alittle cheaper and arent bound by the Instrokes fixed pricing structure...

i sell both cases, and the win are very popular and being that they are made by the instroke co. there is deffinatly NO loss in quality or workmanship.. they are great cases...

I just upgraded my new 2x4 to a 3x5 instroke case if anyone is interested , the 2x4 was only used for storage it's cowboy case mint condition

I love my 2x4 Instroke, but I've always wanted a smooth black leather "It's George" with a pouch - ever since seeing Eddie's (on my old league team). Finally got exactly what I wanted from Bamacues - 1x2 with smooth black leather and a pouch. It's a case that IMO can't be beaten - solid low-profile with complete economy of space.

Scott...let me know if you ever decide to part with that case please, pretty please. :D
