No problem....
I have the customer measure his armspand through several different shot configurations... and while addressing the cueball you freeze right before you touch the cueball and have someone measure from the the tip of the cue all the way down to inbetween the second a third knuckle... you do this twice per round and roughly 5 different setups....of course your arm must be in the 90 degree position when achieving proper measurement...
The total will be averaged out and this will give me the correct armspand and stroke length combined to build and balance the cue around.... I design the cue completely around your hand which is also centered on the wrap for you average shot selection, and no matter where you are on the wrap, whether you choke-up or expand any where on the 12" wrap, you are guaranteed to be within a relevant balance point that will give you proper and consistant feel as well as english and speed control...
This is why I end up building cues longer for most customers, becasue 58" cues don't work well for those of us who have longer bridges and arms and/or both !!! I have built cues 62" before and the customer 's game since then has trippled in consistancy and skill level as well... becasue know he has a cue that is adjusted to him instead of having to adjust to it !!! and most importantly it's comfortable becasue it's made for his physical dimensions...
Now there is a formula to balancing this out becasue there is a certain amount of forward weight needed at the top to fuse all of this together properly and that is my secret... the end result is that the cue feels completely comfortable to the customer and ZERO adjustments are needed as far as having to get used to the new cue is concerened, because the general consensus is that it feels as comfortable as and old pair of shoes !
And this also includes building the cue any diameter the customer wants as well as all the bells and whistles including but not limited to joint pin, shaft taper, and most importantly, "the hit" !
I know I included more than you asked for here, but I wanted you to get the whole picture of what my idea of custom fitted cues was entailing !!!
