Looking for a slot cutter

I am looking to purchase a 6 blade slot cutter. Anybody know where I can purchase one.
Use a mill and a slitting saw or a router and a router bit from routerbits.com.

Joe from Cue Components has his on sale right now.

I've used them, they work pretty well on my laminate router. I found a pretty good cheap source for 3 and 4 blade slot cutters that work equally well that I'll try and find again for you (these are about $10 a piece). Heck, you're turning nearly 30,000 RPM times 4 blades - man that's a lot of cutting surface per turn. You would not be able to tell the difference, except in price. Just another thought.

I've been using a 4-blade 3/16 cutter for awhile now when turning butts but it is getting dull. It did a pretty good job but since I'm going to replace it, just what is the consensus on which blade is the to use? I would imagine the most, and the widest, amount would be best but I don't know for positive as I haven't experimented. On saw shaft machines, I know that the right amount of teeth are needed. To many or not enough teeth are a detriment in the outcome of the smoothness of the shaft.

Thanks

Thank you all for your responses... Joey your site is great.. I really appreciate the help.

I use the 6 flute .187 thick one when taking good cuts. Problem is it has some runout and I slow the router down.
When taking final pass, I use a two shank 5/8 bit.

i hate to say it

but i have 4 different styles of 6 blade cutters, the best is the overpriced one from cue components, i guess sometimes you get what you pay for.

I use a 4 head slot cutter from Royce/Ayr. It is less than an inch in diameter and leaves a finish that is smooth as glass. They only cost about $25 and they can be resharpened. I bought 3 or 4 and just rotate them.

To my knowledge that is the SAME cutter as the one from Everlast less the markup.

I made a custom arbor to hold the one on my Unique Taper/Shaper machine to get the runout down to an acceptable level.
I also wanted the arbor suported at the bottom not just hanging in space.
You should use a router speed control and slow the RPM down with the 6 tooth cutter.
A tip flying off at 30,000 RPM would be scary ... it has happened ... so make and use a good shield also.

I have posted photos of my Taper/Shaper setup in the past.

Could you please post them again or direct me to where I could find them. Thanks a Million!!

Thanks!!!

Thanks for the photos! That's slick... looks like it does a smooooooth cut! How many rpm's are you turning the wood? How fast is the router turning? what is the carrage speed? And what kind of lathe do you have this set-up on? Or is it a taper machine of some sort?
