Looking for a vacuum

Can someone recommend a decent vacuum that's easy to use for a Goldcrown?

thanks

Any Sears or appliance store that carries vacuums should have plenty to pick from.

I'll second the Dyson, the hose had easily 2x-4x the power of my other vacuum cleaners(with clean fresh bags), very big difference!

I haven't used it for a pool table(I dont own one), but the dyson definatly sucks more than any other vacuum cleaner I've used.

think about using a damp towel instead of vacuming...it's easier on the cloth and does a better job taking away chalk dust, imo.

My wife just used our Dyson for the first time on the table last night and it worked GREAT! I love our Dyson, was like 600, but worth every penny with 8 pets and all the hair we have.

I just picked up a Vacuum for $14.99 at Walmart called a Dirt Devil Scorpion. It comes with all the attachments and works like a pro!

This is the deal of the day!

It's really a tough call on a vacuum. If you get them too powerful, it'll start yanking even the tightest of cloth loose over time. And if you get them too weak, they won't pick up very much. In this case, I think you're better erring more toward the weak side and keeping your table clean with other methods.

I'll 2nd that ...

My Mom bought one of these, and it is a good little vacuum. Can't
go wrong for the money.

Oreck usually offers a deal that if you buy the upright vacuum you can get the hand held for free. We have one at BankShots and it works well plus it doesn't have a motorized brush (they wear on your cloth). What ever you use just make sure that it doesn't have a motorized brush on the front of it.

Home Depot has a new Ridgid portable. Less than $30. Lightweight and has long hose.
It sucks the chalk out of the cloth much better than the Dirt Devil.
No spinning brush needed. It's so strong, you will need to wrap/cover the flat nozzle with a cloth so it does't suck too hard or scratch the cloth.

I use a furniture brush attachement on our built-in (Beam). Also the nozzle has a by-pass valve that takes the 'suck' down nicely. I've accidentally lifted the cloth when vacuuming the table (without the brush, very stupid), and subsequently learned how to reduce the little bumps under the cloth (tap gently to moderately with a ball, it will pulverize the bump).

Spinning brush?

Do you guys use a spinning brush head on your felt? The horror!
Doesn't it increase the nap and pull fibers from the felt? Maybe it goes without saying, but I would suggest NOT using a spinning brush head on your felt, just the suction.

I personally vacuum my table with my regular cylinder vaccum hose attachment, then wipe with a clean damp cloth. Works great.

I still stand by the Dirt Devil Scorpion but there are several items you can use as well or in additon to this vacuum.

We have a cat (long haired) who just loves the pool table. It wasn't till recently that we got a good cover for it but before that I used a lint roller. You can pick it up at "Walmart" when you get your scorpion. The lint roller can be used for small cleanups and the vacuum only once and a while. You can also use the new Swifer carpet roller, it is $12.99 at Target.

Good luck!
