I'm new to the forum and have been playing for 4 months. I have been getting tips/instruction online but need an instructor. Does anybody know a good one in Fort Worth, Texas? I will practice what I am taught.

Thanks

I would highly recommend Randy Goettlicher (Randyg). He's one of the best in the world.

Thanks for pointing me in the right direction. I just looked at the websight, This is exactly what I was hoping to find in North TX.

Please provide feedback on your experience. I have no doubt that both Randy and Scott are great instructors. My concern is how the school works when not doing a 1 on 1 session? I have been to a few different pool schools and find that you don't get that under the microscope feeling that you would receive in a private 1 on 1 lesson. So I am wondering if others feel the same from a beginners perspective or from someone with flawed fundamentals.

Thanks for the great posts guys!!

From my experience conducting both classroom group instructions, as well as one-on-one instruction, there are advantages to both. Yes, you do get individualized attention in a one-on-one setting, but the group setting provides a greater opportunity for the exchange of ideas and deeper discussions. Sometimes, someone in the class will ask a question that may not have come up in individual lessons.

Either way, time spent with a good instructor is well spent, regardless of the setting.

freedog...I'm not going to comment on other schools, but if you have not been to an SPF pool school, you have not experienced what we believe to be a well-rounded, very intimate, and great knowledge 3-day experience. Could you get more out of a 1 on 1 lesson? Maybe, but as pooltcher pointed out, the 3-day school is total immersion. We can't cram what we teach, over 3 eight-hour days, into a 4 or 8 hr private lesson. That said, either one will be a huge benefit to you...and if you come and don't think so, we'll refund your money! The way the schools are set up, we've had pros and beginners in the same class, with no problems, and everyone getting the attention they want, need, and deserve.

As I said in my original post, I am new to the game and very eager to gain knowledge and improve. To this point, I am pretty much self taught so I will be thrilled to come out of pool school with new knowledge. Quite sure my feedback will be very positive because of where I'm starting from. I wont be a reliable critic for anybody here.

Charlie Fogg...I just spoke with Randy today, and he's looking forward to having you in school! Prepare to have your mind opened up to lots of new information, and learning about the "myths" of pool (there are lots of those)! You're gonna love it!
