This past August my nine ball team made it to the APA National Team Championship in Las Vegas. We have a fairly strong team and I figured we would do well. We made it pretty deep into the tournament before barely losing to a team who had a player who had "magically" found his real game in Vegas. I am not here to point fingers or name call but after all is said and done he moved 2+ handicaps while out there. We have since received an automatic bid back out providing we pay our own way out. Which is why I am writing this. As you know it is not cheap to take a whole team 1500 miles from home and put them up in a hotel for a week. We are gonna do a couple fund raisers and I am looking for some items to raffle off. I am not here to beg for hand outs just someone to maybe sell me some items at cost so we can raise some funds. I am posting this here in this particular forum because it is the only place here I post. I have helped out several people on here in the past and there are several people here on the forum who can vouch for me if there are any questions. Several of my team members are also forum members. If you have any questions or thoughts please PM me for particulars. Thank you and have a great day.
P.S. I am gonna post my PayPal address in case anyone would like to donate to our cause big or small...

How did you get an automatic bid? Are you guys thinking of staying at the Riv? Have you considered other options?

Good luck with everything. At least here in Ok you have to bag heavily just to make it to Vegas. When local operators allow players to do that eventually it becomes a huge problem. The only year I was in APA we went to Vegas and I saw 4 of the top 12 teams DQ'd. I decided then that I'm not a fan of losing on paper and went on to different leagues.

I thought that BCA moved so the Riv could renovate. I guess I was wrong. I look forward to the new change though. As a past referee/player/spectator I was never a fan of the layout at the Riv. From what I have heard all the tables will be in one room...

cue

I have a jacoby listed on hear for 200 less than retail and it's practically new. I test hit with it for an hour. I will sell it for 425 shipped to you and you can raffle it off. I won the cue in a raffle.

I thought they moved because the Riv kinda sucks. I heard this is the last year for the APA contract at the Riv, perhaps they'll be moving as well. When we attend, we will pretty much stay anywhere but the Riv, check in and out is a nightmare with a bazillion pool players all trying to do this at the same time

My wifes team got an automatic bid due to team DQ. They picked me up the next year to make 5th place only to have her beat to death by another underrated 3. The had an observer watching her and he comments " I am watching wrong player." That was in 2001 and we havent ever qualified since and I just go for the minis when I can. This year I can WOOOOHOOOOOO. And yes they are saying this is the last year for the Riviera.

I'm done with the apa. The LO out here bumps people up for nationals. Couple that along with the players not being that tough out here and you get somene who should be a 3 having to play as a 5. The southcoast apa LO would rather have us just donate so they can save face with the rest of them when sandbagging comes up. Its rediculous when people from other areas come in and are floored that our players are rated so high. I think the last time we had a team make it past the first couple rounds was when an up and comming team went and one of them got moved down durring the event 4 years ago

I wish you luck in your fundraising and at nationals
