Looking for info on these cues!

The Joss is likely a model 18 or J-18.

The N7 was a later version.
Same design different butt cap. The one in the movie didn't have inlays in the points. The J's had gold letter in the joint rings.

I have examples of both with and without notched diamonds.

The white letter cues came out in the early 1980’s. Gold letter started in the late 1980’s

There were/are several variations.

But this one is from another catalog labeled 18 and it looks the same.

The N7 from the A series has notched diamonds in the butt, but not in the forearm.

I've seen both models with and without the notched diamonds. Some of the COM cues i've seen had Hoppe style butts also. These things varied a bit.

It was listed as the N7 in the custom series catalog. Had spears between the points.

Was also in the A series catalog without spears between the points. Listed as the N7 in the A series catalog as well.

Photos in this post were from the custom series catalog.

This is the cover of the custom series catalog I am referring to. There was more than 1 catalog that said custom series on it.

I agree with the assessments provided by Joe V (classiccues) and TATE. Too many times people get overinflated opinions of value and then are reluctant to sell when realistic offers come in. My only point of potential disagreement if that the Joss ferrule could be ivory, like for the Joss West. My white letter Joss ferrules are ivory, so it was an option back then. The ferrule in the OP’s picture is scratched up, but it reflects like ivory where it is not scratched. I am not certain, but I would be open to the possibility.

I always thought this was one of the very prettiest of cue designs.

There is a similar design, with all ebony and I believe silver rings instead of the dashes, that I particularly like. I think Ernie made a variation of this cue but regardless its a very classic design.

He is right. Being an armchair dealer, and actually selling things are different. Everyone who tells you a high number, can do so because they have nothing to lose and surely are not looking to expand those T-Rex arms and reach into their wallets. If you like to take them out of the case and look at them, list the JW at 3500 and the Joss at 1200.

Even though Bill Stroud recently passed, he built a hell of a lot of cues, and no they did not automatically increase by 2x their values. The JW will move at 2200-2500, and the Joss will move around 5-700. You can list them higher if you like to constantly bump your threads and look at them. Conditions that can't be seen from your photos are very important. Straightness being number 1, shaft diameters, and weights you should list accurately.

The only ivory I see are the ferrules on the JW.

But liquidate them expeditiously, if that is your plan.

Can you help me get them appraised?? Not sure how to go about doing that! I'm an hour & a half away from Windsor Locks Connecticut! Saw that you deal with a company there!

" I always thought-
This particular design originated with Ernie @ Gina Cues in California"
These nice cues...
I say
J W Maybe 2K- TODAY'S MARKET-PROVIDING EVERYTHING NICE AND STRAIGHT
JOSS CUE Maybe 500.00
Unless it's a Szam or hercek or SW ,etc-
other cues seem to not be selling too well,
right now"

I think Duane is right....JW was a copy of Ernie's work. 2k price is about right for the JW
500 is just a bit low for the JOSS...maybe in the 6-7 hundo range is still a decent deal.

Just details debating now...

But all I can say is:

Diogenes, extinguish thy lamp.

Great and honest posts by all

I'm proud of you guys. :thumbup2:
