Looking for new breaker

My new standard opinion of break cues, is to get the same cue at the same weight that you play with. The only thing different would be the tip (a hard tip).

I agree whole heartedly with this response. I am now on my 3rd break cue. The first unknown is still my favorite. I purchased the OB and sold it a week later. Own a Gilbert now but changed the tip. Literally I am with my son driving back from having a Searing precision tip put on. So I will see how it playing in a bit.

All that and I can pick up any of my other 3 player cues and break a ton better than with any break cue. I have found a break cue to be very, very stiff. Rock hard hit. Even with tip changes. Hard to control if you already have a strong break. Making it counter productive. If I take "a lot" of speed off my break I actually break better with a particular break cue but still not as well as a player cue. So my conclusion is if you have a mediocre break then the break cue may help. I don't find it does in my case.

My problem is my acceptable player cues range from $1700-$5000. So kinda hard to justify setting a cue a side for that specific task. Although I would love to.

I recently bought a Mezz Kai 21oz with the wrap and I couldn't be happier. I know a lot of people like lighter break cues but I'm a fan of heavier break cues. A bit slower stroke for me with a heavier cue and good things happen! (Not for my opponents!) I'm totally thrilled with the outcome! My break has improved more than 100% with this cue. Best part about your search is that you have so many options, hopefully you'll get to try some of them out before you have to make a decision blind like I did!

I love my KAI (20.35 oz) and as someone said earlier you should be choked up on any break cue that you use period!

I have the Kai Black XPG wrap w/ Samsara tip and it's amazing. I've tried the BK2 & 3 and they do hit like a Mack truck but the Kai felt better in my hand. I'm sure it's because of the balance.

I also am in maybe a small minority who prefer a heavier weight as I don't subscribe to the thought of a break cue being lighter than your player.

I want good control and not just hit uncontrollably full force at the balls. The light break cue thought is to have more acceleration w/ a lighter break cue but why put yourself in the possibility of scratching on the cue ball by trying to hit it so hard? Acceleration is no issue for me either if I wanted to go down that road.

To each his own and I do know quite a few great breakers who like the light break cue so truly whatever method works for you.

All in All, my Mezz Kai is amazing and I don't think I'll ever use anything else. The Kai has probably been one of the most, if not the most successful released break cues by Mezz as well. Across the world it has gotten rave reviews by all different type players. Mezz got it right with the Kai, that's for sure!

Currently I am looking for a new breaker. I have been upgrading equipment lately and have a Rage breaker but it's just not up to par in my opinion compared to all my other equipment.

Right now I'm trying to decide between the Mezz Power Break Kai, Mezz Power Break II, and OB Rift. Does anyone have experience with these? I'm also kind of considering a Samsara breaker.

Tried the Predator BK3 and not a huge fan, it doesn't feel as good as the BK2 and I can't get my hands on one of those.

I have actually used all three you have listed. I personally think the Kai is the best. By a long margin.
