I just picked up a pantograph and would like to get a assortment of templates.
do I need to make these,or are there decent outlets for this, and can people make them from here on az.

it is a simple aluminum one similar to unique inc.
all I want are simple split cut diamonds and tiffany diamonds, and maybe some propeller designs,

any info would be very much appreciated

Is your pantagraph a 2:1 reduction like the Unique pantograph?

If so I have the black delrin forearm point and the butt diamond templates that they ship with that unit. It is the PN1 and PN2 they show on their web site.

You will go into shock when you see what a template will cost you to have made.

If you are interested I can explain how I made templates for the pantograph had for a while ... it really is not to hard.

Chum,

If you have a cue maker friend near you with a CNC, go to his shop with a Pizza and some beer and he should be able to hook you up in no time.

Bring your own template material.

I live in Illinois and if you want to make the trip from Iowa on a weekend, I would be glad to do a few for you.

BTW, 18" deep dish with sausage is our favorite. Lol.

Contact Travis Niklich at Blackcreek Custom Cues. He may still have some templates or could steer you in the direction of someone with some. If you need his contact info, PM me.

It's been a really long time since I've used a pantograph, but I do remember the pattern thing being a little tricky. On my very first ones, I had the pocket pattern made, and then I moulded the part pattern from that. Later, I just reduced the stylus size by 4 times the cutter diameter. But, to do this you will need a matching radius between the pattern and the large stylus. It also changes with the ratio. Mine was 2 to 1.

CNC is so much easier, and much more versatile. The learning curve is a little higher, but It's very much worth it.
