Looking to date an older Schon cue

I posted this on page 3 of another thread but thought it might not get seen by those that can help.

ok... here's my question(s) I have an older schon (not sure how old) I think from VERY early ninety's possible before. I bought it used in 97 or so and it was several years old then. It's styled like an sl2 or sl3. It is a plain 4 pointer, rosewood? (no veneers) and the points are "rounded" with a matching butt sleeve. White (delrin?) butt cap. The original shaft has NO markings/words other than than the simple silver ring that matches the same in the butt. I know the shaft is original and was made before they started stamping schon on them.
Q's
1. what years span the "runde" era?
2. what year did the "rounded" points begin?
3. How can I tell the era of my Schon (the logo on the butt perhaps?)

Just looking for a little more info. I can provide some pics if it would help(I'm sure it would) It's a little beat up but damn... it play's goooood!

The identifications of the cue are best done straight through Evan Clarke with Schon. Send him a message to the email on their page and include pictures and he will get back to you within a few days with responses. I have used him multiiple times on questions like this. He is the Schon expert.

i agree with only ERO's, but why would you want to date a schon? if i was you i would take out a gina or searing for dinner at red lobster instead!

just kidding buddy..but going with asking them directly is the best idea

sorry for trying to get MY thread back on topic  ...

But isn't there some way to tell the difference by the way the "Schon" on the butt cap looks? script, font, size? it seems like I read that somewhere. Plus with the shaft not having "Schon" anywere on it leads me to believe it's one of the "older" ones. not necessarily "runde era" but older... HELP!

date a Schon

the unmarked Schon shafts with the silver ring were made between the years 1988 and 1992. The first shafts with silver ring that were marked was from 1993. These shafts were marked horizontally on the shaft collar. Starting in 1994 all Schons shafts were marked vertically on the shaft itself. Hope this helps date cue.

I would definitely say late 80's / early 90's based on your description. I have a similar cue from 1990/1991 or so, rounded points, original shaft had no markings, etc. My older cue from 1986/87 has the spliced points, I think they switched in the later 80's...

The nice thing about emailing Evan is when you get a response (which may take awhile) in  fact I had to call to push mine along, Is that you then have a printout of paperwork to place with your cue for future reference, insurance, etc. Hope this helps.
