I'm basically looking for an inexpensive butt end to go with a predator
shaft, I've narrowed my choices down to a low end Joss or a Huebler
Sneaky.

I like the looks of both and the price is about the same, 215.00 or so for either of them, any suggestions?

Sorry. I have no suggestions. Both the low end Joss and the Huebler SP are my two most suggested low cost cues.

Get the newer one.

Personally, I'd buy the Heubler sneaky and sell the predator shaft. The Heubler's play great IMO. If your set on using a Predator, I doubt that either butt would make much difference. Good Luck.

I don't quite understand. Do you already have the Predator shaft? If so, it won't fit one of these cues because they have different joints. The other thing is, the cue might need to be tweaked by a cue maker to ensure the proper fit and balance.

On the other hand, if you are buying a new Predator shaft as well as one of these cues, then you might as well just buy one of the Predator sneaky pete's. They are only $324 at Mueller's wrapless or $356 with the wrap. They are well made.

I play with a Predator shaft too and I'm very happy with mine, but the cue was custom made to balance properly with the lighter Predator shaft.

I don't have a Predator shaft yet, Sebert's said they can sell
me compatible second gen shafts for either cue.

I hate the look of all the lower end Pred cues.

Huebler sneaky's seem like a great deal. I know Joss used to have
a great rep but I have not heard many good things about their newer cues.

i went the same avenue you're planning to explore.
i bought a cheaper cue that that i liked the look of(lucasi le-27)with plans to upgrade to a predator or ob-1 shaft.

however,i like this cue as is.

if you like the old style looking cues(points, venneers, etc.)lucasi, mali vintage, kaiser, and adams make some really nice looking old school cues.the lucasi and mali hit pretty good, the kaiser and adams i'm not sure about.

dufferins seem to have a really good hit too.

This is my criteria,

American Made
Inexpensive
Simple but nice looking
Compatible with ready to order Pred 2nd gen shafts
No rings near the joint that would prevent the Pred shaft from matching
aesthetically
Option to have the shaft turned down to 12.5mm during the order process
Good overall feedback from people regarding the brand's quality
Preferably no wrap at all

Heubler has one Sneaky that fits all the above, Joss has a couple that
fit everything but the "no wrap" part, I'm sure they could do it though
for a few xtra $$$

Huebler has another Sneaky (their cheapest one) which I truly like best
but the shaft has ringwork near the joint

Hey Fred, I just noticed the Gilbert in your signature alongside the Schuler. Didn't you shoot only with the Schuler for awhile?

I shot with a Schuler for several years. I still will shoot with one of my Schulers now and again.

I shoot with the Gilberts more because they're a matched set. Plus they're so pretty. And I play well with them. I also will travel with a the Gilbert J/B. Very convenient since I can play with it also.

I figure I'm going to switch one last time. And to those that might be thinking it, I'm not looking for the magical cue. I just like to play with different cues.
