Lucasi Big Beulah 2 Wrap is a fail

Does anyone here know a source for replacing the original shaft wrap with a like product?

This cue was purchased several years ago. The "X-Shox Dampening Technology" AKA Rubber Wrap with another soft wrap underneath, was great for the first couple of years, but then it began to peal and shred. Now, with each break, there are little specs of black rubber "dust" on my table.

No cue repair person around Atlanta (that I can find) has ANY idea how to get a replacement and ALL made it clear that a leather or linen wrap will leave a "Lip" at either end because the current wrap is so very thick.

I tried to contact Lucasi to see about the wrap to replace it myself and when I call the number, the person answering the phone explained that "Lucasipoolcues.com" is a shell that sells the cues and not related to the manufacturer. I sent them an email to see if I could order the replacement wrap and they just sent an email with a "Repair Ticket" for me to fill out to send the cue in. Evidently, if they have the wrap, they refuse to send it to me, but rather require I send my cue off to who knows where to be stepped on by the UPS driver et al.

How can they have the nerve to sell a cue at this price point and not be willing to help keep the cue functional? Very poor customer service. I wish I had bought a break from Viking with linen wrap. My experience with their customer service has been stellar. This is turning out to be a big disappointment.

A friend of mine had the same problem with his Lucasi wrap.

That wrap is a POS.

I had my other friend replace it with solid black Irish linen for him.

The wrap channel is really deep and it had to be built up and double-wrapped. It came out very good.

I just had a black leather alligator print wrap put on it by the very good people at Ozone Recreation here in Kennesaw. It looks better than new and I would never buy any other Lucasi product. Terrible customer "no service."

Contact Cue and Case. Lucasi is their brand. They own it and import them. That place you contacted is nothing but a dealer. BTW, your story is not uncommon. Those rubber sport grips suck and always fall apart.

Thank you for the info. I'm very happy with the grip now, but important information if I ever need warranty work in the future.

Those wraps are not easily replaced. Them wanting you to send it in does not constitute 'bad customer service' imo. They do it that way so they can control the install or possibly a replacement. Why would they send one out to someone who may have no clue how to install it right and just make the situation worse? Cue-n-Case's site clearly states a Lifetime Guarantee. They would probably have to see it in order to assess if it occured thru normal play or any possible abuse. I've dealt with a LOT of co's over the yrs who have basically the exact same cust. serv. policies. Let's say you bought a Viking with leather wrap and it came loose. You think they're gonna send you a wrap to do it yourself?? No, you'd have to send it in.

Thanks for your insight and especially the info about cue and case. Without that information from you I may have never even known where to go for the possibility of repair. I get they want it sent in, but just a grip is not warranty. It should be an easy fix for any local professional cue repair person. If it were warranty of course send in is very appropriate, but to require that just for a simple wrap and not making that available otherwise is poor customer service disguised as "we want to be sure it's done correctly and meets our strict standards." It's a grip on a pool stick, not a nuclear reactor.😁

I don't know ANY cue maker/company that would send out any wrap to be installed by owner. BTW, i got curious and contacted C-n-C. They guarantee cues against warpage. Wraps(any) are not covered. They said there is really no way to determine if it was a defect, normal wear-n-tear or abuse.

Of course. It's totally wear and tear. I just needed a new one. It's all Good. I have a beautiful new, black, alligator embossed, highly textured (better for grip while breaking) leather grip that I am very pleased with. Thank you for your thoughts and input.

Cork is really good too. IMO it probably has best feel/traction of any wrap.
