Lucasi LZD1 Rings

I recently found this Lucasi cue in a pawn shop. It appeared to be a LZD-1. I'm asking myself is this cue odd? It has checkered rings, triple silver rings seemed to be standard.
Is this odd or just another custom feature?

I have had 3 Lucasi cues... All with checked rings.

Maybe it has something to do with their older cues... Can you see the date at the bottom? The Numeric Code?
