Lucasi or Nick Varner

Hi, my name is Rob and I'm on the market for a new pool cue in the under $400 price range. Right now I'm stuck between a Lucasi L-P70 cue, and a Nick Varner World Championship cue. They cost roughly the same and both have good reviews. After more saving, I'm going to purchase a predator Z2 shaft and install a Kamui Black soft tip on it. But for now I'm going to play with the stock cue. I know both cues have a good reputation and great quality for a decent price, but which one is the superior? If anybody who has ever played with a Nick Varner or Lucasi cue please fill me in? Thanks.
 
I have played with both brands. I had 2 Lucasis and the captain of my league team has 2 Varners. I prefer the Lucasis because they seemed a little stiffer than the Varners. I didn't think the Varners hit bad, but for my $$$$, I prefer the Lucasis.
