Lucasi/Predator vice Pechauer

ok, guys, i am having 2nd thoughts now. i used my Pechauer over the weekend, played really good with it. i think once i get the Tsunami tip on it and have the shaft turned down to around 12.75 it will be a weapon. plus i like the looks of it too. and the blue book II says Pechauer cues signed on the forearm are the top of the line Pechauer cues.

anyway, like the Nova, not sure i want to mess with the Pechauer now. so now i am leaning towards getting that Predator Shaft for my ebony/ivory Lucasi Cue. i like the looks of this Lucasi cue perhaps better than any of the ones i have.

i guess i am just wondering, if i would show up at a big time professional tournament, such as the Glass City Open, playing with a Lucasi butt and Predator shaft if the pros would snicker at that?

Most of the Pro's are not really cue "snobs". Besides, it does not matter what others think about what you shoot with. Don't worry about that. Shoot with what feels the best to you. If you whip some booty with a Lucasi/Predator, Good for you. You sound overly concerned with the opinions of others. You will never please everyone so why try. Good luck.
 
Are you kidding? The pros could care less what kind of cue you use. All they care about is whether you are making balls or not.

The only time I ever heard of any pro commenting on his opponent's cue was something Earl Strickland said while playing in the World Championships in Germany one year. He was playing a German player who had a funky cue that he had built himself. Earl reported said, "if you beat me with that I'll swim home".

I assume Earl won since I don't remember reading about a record swim in the papers. :)
 
Buddy Hall played with a Lucasi/Pred. combo. I don't know if he still does, but I don't remember anybody ever laughing at Buddy over his cue.

Doubt it.
With Buddy's tuck and curl style of applying english, I'd think he has a custom grade non-laminated shaft. :D

Does It Really Matter What They Say Or Think? If You Can Run With The Big Dogs That's All That Matters. If For Some Reason Anyone Says Something To You, Just Keep It In The Back Of Your Head And Use It As Fuel, To Make Sure You Beat Them. Or Better Yet, Beat Them So Bad They Never Forget It. Use Whatever Makes You Happy, And You Feel Comfortable With.

I would have to agree with you on his style of play, but 2 or 3 years ago I attended a tournament that he was in and he just got done stomping someone and was putting his cues back in the case while I sat no more than 2 feet away and I asked him what he was using. He said a Lucasi with a
3/8x10 pin (not normal because they use Uni-loc) and a Predator "prototype". It was too long ago for them to be working on a Z shaft, so I don't have any idea what was going on. Maybe he was just experimenting, but I can't imagine him using one on a long term basis. Makes me cringe to even admit it, but I at least tell it like it is and don't fabricate shit like they do.
