Question for you cue aficianados out there.

I am under the impression that Lucasi makes production cues. I am also under the impression that Lucasi also has one guy that makes a cue from start to finish and they refer to these cues as Lucasi Customs.

I have one of each and am just trying to find the difference between the two, or why one says Lucasi Custom and the other one doesn't. I think the Lucasi Cues are excellent playing cues.

I have a Lucasi Custom Cue that was made from start to finish by the master cue maker
Ling Chou Lucasi.

Nope, they are as much "Custom" as McDermott, Joss, Players, etc... that you buy in a catalog or a store. Custom on all those cues basically means "not from a pool hall wall".

I think McDermott does have a master series that are made by the more experienced cue builders but I could be wrong there.

Maybe I'm thinking of Gibson and Fender LOL

its a marketing thing. believe it or not the bigger companies see what goes on in their business, and in pool where the custom cue is considered above the production cue, and yes, there is someone who works for the company who reads these forums, custom sounds better than production so they put custom on their cues. if you buy their cheapest cue, a sneaky im guessing at 200 or so bucks vs their "custom" at $1100, you're basically a dumbass for buying the custom. sry, truth is hard to swallow sometimes. it's like the SouthWest paradox, southwest is highly regarded and sought after, yet alot of them warp, but it's called a "southwest" warp. it's a joke. I have a 40 year old adams that is dead straight, wanna know the difference? the wood was better than. wood these days is being used faster than it can grow. try finding a decent true ebony for less than a small fortune. it's a shame, some cue builders these days have increased knowledge and way better equipment, yet they are stuck with crappy wood. don't misunderstand me, there's alot of pretty wood, as in good looking burls and stuff, but the difference is that half a century ago the tree it was cut from was old and naturally grown, now it's "fed" and cut as soon as possible. at least that's what I think, but who am I.

I seriously doubt this. The are a production cue made in China. They may have a "custom design", and that is probably what they are referring to. If they don't even make the production cues (they outsource them), I doubt they are hiring a cue maker to make the custom jobs for them.
