Players,
PlayerA - Very well known player. Been on the TV table several times.
PlayerB - Not well known very good player. Was on TV table once about a year ago.
Color commentators,
Alone Hoping - Champion player.
Dick Schmitthed - Celebrity, had one co-staring role in a pool movie and several small roles in other movies. Was first out in celebrity poker, going all-in on the first hand with 2,7 off suit.
Alone - Welcome ladies and gentleman. Today's match will be 9 ball, race to 7 for the championship.
Dick - Yes Alone, it should be very exciting to see who wins 4 games first!
Alone - I believe Dick meant to say 7 games first. (Alone elbows Dick just in time to keep Dick from saying 'No, I'm meant 4'. Alone turns off his mic and tells Dick, "It's a race to 7, not best of 7 Dick")
Dick - I understand they will be playing alternating breaks, wouldn't it be easier to keep track of if they played winner breaks, Alone?
Alone - We have a referee on this match that will be watching all the play and keeping score.
Game 1
Alone - PlayerA won the lag so he'll get to brake first.
Dick - I don't know if he is breaking on the correct side of the table for a right hander.
Alone - He made two balls on the break, so right or wrong I think he will continue to break from that side. Everything is open. He shouldn't have any trouble getting out here.
Dick - That looked pretty easy.
Alone - Yes, PlayerA played that break and run well.
Game 2
Alone - Its PlayerB's turn to break.
Dick - He didn't hit them very hard. If he had hit them harder instead of the cue ball sitting there in the middle it might have went all over the table and broke out that 5 and 6 that are tied up.
Alone - He has a shot on the one. As you said Dick, his only problem is the 5 and 6.
Dick - if he hits that 5 hard enough the 6 could go somewhere.
Alone - What a great shot on the 3, he set up the 4 perfectly to break the 5 and 6.
Dick - He hit that pretty hard though Alone, looked a little lucky to me.
Alone - Now that was a great break and run. Ties the score 1 to 1.
Game 3
Alone - PlayerA's break.
Dick - See I told you it was the wrong side for a right hander. He didn't make anything that time.
Alone - Nice run out by PlayerB that makes the score PlayerA 1 , PlayerB 2
Game 4
Dick - It's PlayerB's break. I wonder if he's going to put any effort into this one.
Alone - Looks like PlayerB is going to have to push.
Dick - That looked like a cheap shot to me.
Alone - PlayerA doesn't like it so he passes.
Dick - PlayerB shoots a cheap shot like that and he gets rewarded by being able to shoot twice in a row????
Alone - What a great shot by PlayerB, no reward though, nothing on the 2.
Dick - At least that cheap shot didn't pay off with a win. The score is PlayerA 2, PlayerB 2.
Game 5
Alone - Nice break and run by Player A
Game 6
Dick - Looked tough, good job by PlayerB (Alone had whispered to Dick what to say) The score is PlayerA 3, PlayerB 3.
Game 7
Alone - PlayerA's break came up dry.
Dick - If he'd break from the other side he could have probably ran this out.
Alone - Nice safety by PlayerB, I don't see a safety play for PlayerA, he might have to just hit it solid.
Dick - I hit every shot solid, there are six pockets ya know.
Alone - The one ball went two rails and knocked in the six ball! Looks like an easy run out from here.
Dick - See, that's how it's done. Score is PlayerA 4, PlayerB 3.
Game 8
Alone - Nice break and run by PlayerB.
Dick - Looked easy though.
Alone - The score is PlayerA 4, PlayerB 4.
Game 9
Dick - PlayerA is breaking from the other side. Told you!
Alone - Good break
Alone - I can't believe he missed that 3 ball.
Dick - Do you think he missed it on purpose? He probably wanted to hide the cue ball, but it didn't work so he might as well miss it.
Alone - Nice out by PlayerB. Score PlayerA 4, PlayerB 5.
Game 10
Dick - Nice break and run by PlayerB, he's lucky though, breaking that softly.
Alone - What a race, PlayerB is really playing well and putting the presure on PlayerA. Score PlayerA 4, PlayerB 6.
Game 11
Alone - 9-BALL on the break!! Score A5, B6
Dick - See, I told you he should break from that side.
Game 12
Alone - PlayerB's break. Oh, great spread, but that 3 ball just didn't quite make it to the hole. Looks like PlayerA has a wide open table.
Dick - Looks like it's going to be a close one. Score PlayerA 6, PlayerB 6.
Game 13
Alone - Looks like PlayerA winning the lag could make a difference in this match.
Dick - Yup, PlayerA lagged behind the entire match until he made that great 9 ball break.
Alone - OH MY!!! 9 on the break again!!!! and that's the match.
Dick - Just think how quick a match it would have been if PlayerA had been breaking from the correct side all along.
Alone - 'There is an element of luck in 9-ball.'
I was really looking forward to trying Planet Pool's 8-ball events. I was reading the rules and was thinking. 'Great , they are using BCA rules.' Then the BIG disappointment set in when I read that the only rule they changed from BCA was - 8-ball on the break wins.
